Doctor of Leadership in Global Perspectives: Crafting Ministry in an Interconnected World

Do You Know Why?

Written by: on June 24, 2013

It is important to know why.  Why?  Why is the core to any organization or business and morevoer, it is probably also the core of who we are as people.  That is if we want to be people of purpose and direction.  Simon Sinek in Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, asserts that leaders need to inspire, and not manipulate.  To inspire, we must passionately explain why, then explain how, and then what.  However, we must always start with why, or we short circuit our ability to inspire people to loyalty and greatness.

Here is my “why” statement:

In a broken world marred by sin, it is the power of the gospel found in the future leadership of the world (youth and university students) who will be used by God to continue the restotation of the world.  We must build gospel movements among young people in order to see the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.
