Seminary student seeks feedback from students who receive accommodations

Thursday, March 21st, 2024

I am a seminary student, pursuing my Master of Arts in Leadership & Culture, and I receive academic accommodations from the Disability & Accessibility Services department to support me as an Autistic-ADHD student.

I’m looking for other students who receive accommodations like me (or those who decided not to request accommodations) who would be willing to chat with me and tell me a little about your experience at the seminary (or at George Fox in general). I’m working on a project for a class where I’m being asked to gather stories from students to hear how others experience their education while having different access needs, whether officially accommodated or not.

If you would be willing to chat with me to share a little bit of your story, I would love to meet you! Please contact me directly this week, or hopefully before the end of March. Of course if you contact me after that I’d be just as happy to meet you just to say hello.

Thank you! I look forward to meeting you!

Memorize George Fox’s Mission Statement and earn a prize

Wednesday, March 20th, 2024

Tomorrow (Friday), your friendly director of institutional effectiveness, Christine Lawton, will walk the campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to find out whether faculty and staff (and maybe a few students) know George Fox University’s Mission Statement, why a Mission Statement is important, and how their work intersects with it.

Prizes will be given to all who participate, with the best prize for those who correctly recite the Mission Statement. Mnemonics help to memorize! Use acronyms to learn the statement:

Medicare Fraud: Shut it down

Tuesday, March 19th, 2024

Here are three tips to protect yourself from Medicare fraud and scams:

  • If you get a call, text, or email asking for your Medicare Number, don’t respond. Don’t give your Medicare card or Medicare Number to anyone except your doctor or people you know should have it.
  • Check your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) or claims statements carefully. If you see a charge for a service you didn’t get or a product you didn’t order, it may be fraud. If you suspect fraud, report it at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
  • Guard your Medicare card like it’s a credit card.

Visit Medicare.gov, the official source for Medicare information, to learn more about preventing Medicare fraud and medical identity theft.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Aga Kasprzyk at akasprzyk@georgefox.edu.
