Student Accounts processing personal checks through MyGeorgeFox

Friday, April 10th, 2020

Student Accounts is now processing personal checks through my.georgefox.edu. This payment method allows for swift, secure and safe payment handling. An added benefit is that payments generate a receipt to the student that can be forwarded to whomever made payment on their account.

To make future payments online directly, please visit our website to learn how and to authorize access for others to make payments on your behalf. You will find that once the bank account information is saved, the payment process is very quick. No fee is charged for submitting e-check payments. Thank you for helping us in this way!

This change impacts personal check payments only. Other payments require customary handling and will experience a slight delay.

Contact Jenny Getsinger (jgetsing@georgefox.edu) if you have any questions.

Thursday, April 9th, 2020

Finance understands that many of you are currently working remotely and may not have thought about “year-end” when the COVID-19 stay-home request was made.

Please do what you can to ensure that any deposits, reimbursement requests, reconciliations for Visa reimbursements and invoices find their way (with the appropriate documentation to complete the transaction) to finance as soon as reasonably possible.

The finance team is here and is available to help if you have questions.

Invitation to remember Jesus’ journey to the cross

Thursday, April 9th, 2020

Each year during Holy Week, the Office for Spiritual Life invites the community to meditate on Jesus’ journey to the cross through a Stations of the Cross prayer experience.

As we are not able to gather together for this annual tradition, the university pastors invite you to create a similar experience in your own home. We invite you to print this document and post the Scriptures around your home so that, as you move through your house, you may prayerfully meditate on Jesus’ journey to the cross throughout this Holy Week.

Peace be with you.

Thank you for your transparency sheet donations

Thursday, April 9th, 2020

The engineering department is overwhelmed by your transparency sheet donations. Thank you to all who have searched around your offices and donated. In addition to those we gathered on campus, Newberg schools donated 40 boxes and a local business reached out and offered 1,000 sheets!

It’s a blessing to see our campus and community help in this way. This will keep our 3D printers busy for a long time. If you have questions, contact Lora Froescher at lfroescher@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2777.

Coca-Cola vending machines have been emptied

Thursday, April 9th, 2020

Coca-Cola has emptied their beverages from all of their vending machines on campus as of yesterday (Thursday). With little or no current usage, this helps ensure that there is no expired product in the machines being sold. They will resume stocking the machines in the near future.

Please be aware of restriction on spending

Wednesday, April 8th, 2020

In anticipation of a temporary reduction in campus services and staff working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finance and purchasing are asking for your help to cut or defer all spending that is not critical to the operation of the university.

To assist with this goal, all purchases over $1,000 must have an authorized purchase order. Please limit all office supply orders to only include items that are critical to operate.

We are currently reviewing changes to credit card limits and availability, and we will communicate with affected departments/employees as those changes are finalized.

For help, please contact:

Matt Hammar (mhammar@georgefox.edu or extension 2006) for purchase order help and information.

Kathi Becker (kbecker@georgefox.edu or extension 2166) for Visa and Concur help and information.

Donate transparency sheets to be made into face shields

Wednesday, April 8th, 2020

Does your department have 8.5″ x 11″ clear transparency sheets you are no longer using? The engineering department can use these to make face shields.

A couple of our staff are busy using the 3D printer for the headpiece and are in need of transparencies for the shield that drops over the face. These are being distributed to local health care facilities and frontline workers.

Drop them in the campus mail to: Transparencies, Box 6088. If you have questions or need a pick-up, contact Lora Froescher at lfroescher@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2777.

Tell students about the support available during remote learning

Wednesday, April 8th, 2020

The transition to remote education brings various challenges for many students as they navigate new living situations, different course formats, and upended schedules. The support during remote learning webpage has advice about moving forward this semester, and students can watch this brief message about support that is available.

If you would like to see the emails sent to all traditional undergraduate students from Rick Muthiah, director of Learning Support Services, you can find the text at the bottom of the webpage linked above. Students are encouraged to contact a professor, CAP coach, the student life office, or someone else at the university if they are having difficulty with the remote learning experience.

If they aren’t sure who to contact, they can call the university switchboard (503-538-8383), or email or call Rick Muthiah at rmuthiah@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2314.
