The admissions office is looking for students to volunteer their dorm rooms to be shown during our campus tours this semester! Volunteers will receive a gift card at the end of the semester. Tours will begin as soon as Monday, Sept. 28, and run through finals week, Dec. 18.

As The Undiscovered C.S. Lewis Conference unfolds this week, all are welcome to attend The Forge of Friendship, a documentary about the friendship between C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. It will be screened twice this week in conjunction with the conference. The screenings are today (Thursday) from 9:30 to 11 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in ART 105.
This event is open to students and the public, and holds up to 76 people. This is a multi-episode documentary to be launched next year. Join us for a sneak peek at this exciting new project!
Also in conjunction with the conference, the play The Fire and the Rose: T.S. Eliot and C.S. Lewis in Conversation will be open to the public tomorrow (Friday), from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the amphitheater (weather backup is chapel). You’re invited to join us for an off-campus retreat during the beginning of mid-semester break on Thursday, Oct. 15 through Saturday, Oct. 17.
These retreats are thoughtfully designed for a small group of 10-12 students and will take place off campus. During the retreat, participants can expect to enter into a slower pace to engage in various spiritual practices that refresh their mind, body and spirit.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to create connections with fellow students and staff, fostering a sense of community and support.
You must fill out an application to express interest in attending. You will receive a confirmation email to let you know you’ve been selected to attend and then you will secure your spot with $20. The $20 covers food, lodging and transportation. The last day to sign up is Oct. 12 (or until spots are filled).

People from across the political spectrum describe themselves as patriotic. But they often have trouble seeing each other as patriotic. Come to a Community Conversation in Canyon Commons at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, to get a chance to listen to – and talk to – people who think of patriotism differently.
Clarify where we all agree and where we disagree, and why. Come away better able to recognize when others are being patriotic, better able to join with others in love for our country, and better able to fairly and accurately articulate the differences among us.

Department of Human Services (DHS) representatives will be at the Bruin Community Pantry between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month during the fall semester to assist people with signing up for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits (formerly known as food stamps).

We are delighted to welcome Faith Carter as our guest speaker for a short devotional and prayer at noon. Faith is a retired educator and pastor who has served in women’s ministry and local and global outreach. She and her husband, Don, continue to serve the George Fox community, with Don serving as chair of the university’s board of trustees.
