W-2 forms now paperless: Have you consented?

November 9th, 2015

In support of our creation care values, human resources will issue 2015 year-end W-2 forms online in “Self Service” for all employees, including student employees. If you do not want HR to print and deliver your W-2, the law requires that you give your consent.

If you consented in the past, you do not need to do so again. You can verify your consent status or give consent for the first time by following the steps below. It only takes about 30 seconds, so I encourage you to take care of it as soon as possible – perhaps right now? Here’s how:

  1. Log in to mygfu.georgefox.edu
  2. From the menu at left, select “Self Service”
  3. Select “Payroll and Compensation”
  4. Select “W-2/W-2c Consent”
  5. Check your current status. Does it say “Consent received?” If so, thank you! You’re done.

If not …

  1. Read the statement and check the box to give consent
  2. Enter your GFU password as a confirmation of your identity and click “Continue”
  3. Click “OK”

You’ll receive a confirmation email of your decision shortly after completing this process. And just to be clear, you will only have to do this once – not every year.

Thanks very much. Let me know if you have any questions.

Final call for 2015-16 ‘Who’s Who’ nominations for undergraduate students

November 9th, 2015

The time has come once again to begin the process of selecting our undergraduate “Who’s Who” nominees for the 2015-16 academic year.

For those of you who have contact with our undergraduate population you have the opportunity to make nominations by selecting up to 20 students who you feel are worthy of recognition from the students who qualify for selection. These students are eligible for nomination and expect to graduate either midyear or spring (December 2015 or April 2016).

Please take a few minutes to make your selections for this award! You do NOT need to choose 20 students … just up to 20! Please mark your selections no later than Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. Please choose up to 20 but no more than 20 students.

Click on this link to make your selections:

Who’s Who Nomination Form

In addition, these students all have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and have turned in their application for degree. Other criteria for choosing a student include their demonstration of:

  • Personal integrity
  • Involvement in the George Fox community
  • Service to the community at large

A total of 155 students are eligible for nomination based on GPA alone. We will record the top-20 selections and determine the top-25 choices university-wide. We will then invite the top 25 students to respond. All students who respond will be awarded the “Who’s Who” honor.

(Please note: There may be others who qualify to be on this list, but because they have not registered for commencement at the time of the selection process, they are not on this list.)

Please contact Jere Witherspoon (jwitherspoon@georgefox.edu) in the student life office if you have any questions.

‘Be the Match’ bone marrow registry drive returns to campus Nov. 13

November 8th, 2015

Once again, the university is hosting a Be the Match Registry drive on campus, giving you the opportunity to possibly save someone’s life.

Join us anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, in the Cap and Gown Room. It’s easy to become a registered donor. It takes just a few minutes to fill out a little paperwork and provide a DNA sample with a quick swab of the cheek.

For thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma, the best hope of survival is finding a young, healthy marrow donor. Doctors are searching the Be The Match Registry every day in hopes of finding a donor to save their patients’ lives. Imagine being a patient and being told by your doctor that there is no matched donor available to save your life. You have the opportunity to help change that by joining the Be The Match Registry and becoming part of the cure.

If you are unable to join us for the event and would like to join the Be The Match national registry, please register at this link.

Questions? Contact Shawn Fisher at sfisher13@georgefox.edu. The Be the Match event is being cosponsored by Sigma Zeta Kappa, the Nursing Club and ASC.
