On a recent trip to Europe, President Robin Baker and his wife Ruth had the opportunity to visit Normandy, France, site of the historic D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944. The experience proved both memorable and moving, as his party included several war veterans.
In his most recent blog post, Robin reflects on the experience. You can read it here.

The building housing the Employee Empowerment (formerly HR) and University Advancement offices has a new name: West Offices. Located on the western edge of campus, across from the Sheridan Street House and Meridian Street House, it was formerly known as the “Minthorne Office Building.”
The name was changed, in part, to avoid confusion with Minthorn Hall, the Minthorne Gallery and Minthorne Conference Room. The building is leased, which is why it is not named after a person or family.

As a part of our strategy to increase efficiency and streamline our Finance and business processes, we have automated the entire expense process using Concur Expense.
For our university, Concur will allow us to:
- Create a better expense reimbursement process for employees
- Drive expense and travel policy compliance
- Gain better visibility to travel and expense spending
- Eliminate the need to collect, manage and store paper receipts
For our employees, Concur will:
- Reduce the time spent and minimize the hassle of completing the expense process
- Allow on-the-go capabilities through user friendly mobile applications
- Provide pre-populated expense reports
- Require fewer key strokes to request reimbursement
Our Finance and IT teams investigated many solutions. Concur Expense closely matches our business needs. We will go live with Concur Expense on July 5, 2017.
Automating the entire expense process from both a web and mobile standpoint is an important step in helping improve our processes. We are excited about our new process and ask each of you to support this change and use Concur Expense. There will be an email sent out on July 5 for the next step in this process. If you have questions, contact Matt Hammar at mhammar@georgefox.edu.
Sincerely,
Finance/Purchasing/IT

They are here! Mail Services has the limited-edition first-class “Eclipse†stamps. These stamps are really cool! They are heat sensitive, so when you press your finger onto the stamp, the heat will cause the moon to show on the stamp. Once the heat cools down, the eclipse will reappear.
There are 16 stamps per sheet, and the cost is $7.84. These stamps will not last long, so get a piece of history while supplies last!
Thanks,
Mail Services

As part of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, George Fox library patrons enjoy access to materials at 39 member libraries, with items being delivered via a courier to both Newberg and Portland campuses five days a week. In order to improve delivery and turnaround times, the Alliance is transitioning to a new courier service this summer.
During the transition to the new system, Summit deliveries will be delayed for items requested from June 26 to July 5. Summit requests can still be made during this period, but those items will be delivered after July 5.
We highly recommend placing orders for Summit materials ASAP, in order to get them before the delays are in effect. Thank you for your patience during this process as we transition to a new courier service. We look forward to being able to provide improved service going forward!
Questions about your Summit requests? Please contact the circulation department.
