The end of the fiscal year is approaching, and with that Finance would like to inform you of a few requirements for year-end purchase orders.

Please remember that if you order goods and/or services on a PO, they need to be physically received/completed by June 30, 2019. Goods and services received after June 30, 2019, will be charged to the 2019-20 budget year. Therefore, all purchase requisitions/POs for this fiscal year need to be entered by May 31, 2019. 

Your George Fox Visa can be used until June 21, 2019. If you will be traveling between June 21 and June 30 and you need to use your George Fox Visa, you must contact Purchasing prior to arranging travel.

Concur Expense Reports and Visa Reports for 2018-19 must be submitted by July 10, 2019. Any reports created and submitted after July 10 will be reflected in the 2019-20 budget.

A training session for Cascade Server, the system used to edit the university website, will be offered on Monday, May 13, from 2 to 4 p.m.

This basic-level session is tailored for editors who have either not edited the website before or need a refresher on using the software. The session will be held in Stevens 307. Sign up using this form.

The university lost a longtime supporter on May 1 with the death of Ken Austin. Beyond that, President Robin Baker lost a close friend. In his latest blog post, Robin reflects on the impact Ken had on the university and shares his personal thoughts on the loss of someone who was humble, generous and committed to service. You are invited to join our Accessibility Ambassadors for an accessibility workshop to be held this Monday, May 6, in Roberts Center 168, from 9 a.m. to noon.

This is a hands-on morning that will start with a breakfast buffet, hosted by The Libraries Digital Learning. We will open our laptops to work on making digital content accessible for our students.

Would you like to work on your Word, PowerPoint, or Excel files? Make images and tables accessible? Caption videos? Learn how to give an individual student extended time on a FoxTALE quiz? Join us for any amount of time during the morning.

The session satisfies up to three hours of faculty development.

In his research on former President Levi Pennington, President Robin Baker has come across thought-provoking letters that address the topics of peace and pacifism.

You will want to keep an archive of your gradebooks that includes all courses taught for the last five years. See the guide “Downloading the Gradebook” for a demonstration on how to download this term’s gradebooks as spreadsheets for your storage.

Your 2019 summer and 2019-20 academic year course sites are now accessible to you in FoxTALE. They will remain hidden from students until you are ready to make your courses visible. See the guides at “FoxTALE Course Life Cycle” for information on how to locate courses, adjust course start and end dates, import content from previous courses, and make your courses visible to the students.

You will find additional guides at “Digital Learning” and “FoxTALE for Faculty.” We welcome your inquiries at digitallearning@georgefox.edu.

Eligible employees may now apply for tuition remission for themselves or spouse as a part-time or special (non-degree seeking) student for the 2019-20 academic year. Click here to apply.

If you have already applied for and received approval for the 2019-20 academic year during our annual enrollment for tuition remission, please do not apply again.

The time to request tuition remission for full-time dependent students has passed. This process is available each year in October during an open enrollment period. However, if you missed this opportunity you may file an exception request, which the university will review and approve on a resource-available basis.
