As the university prepares to transition its printing needs to an outside source, we have partnered with Allegra Printing in Newberg. They have provided instructions for submitting print jobs; please read carefully.

• Submit all files and print requests to Shoshannah Smith at smiths@allegranewberg.com.
• PDF files are required. For graphic posters, we prefer 1-up with .125” bleeds and crop marks. If you’re sending booklets with spreads, please be certain they are in printer spreads, not reader spreads, and have numbered pages.
• Booklets can be submitted as 1-up single sheets in order and we will make them into booklets.
• Standard short-run pieces take three to five business days; however, we can at times do next-day return. If you know a project is coming up and call ahead, we can put it on our schedule. We cannot do next-day return on wide format pieces.
• Please call 503-538-7345 with any questions. Quotes need to be done through email, so if you call in a quote, please leave email contact information.

A training session for Cascade Server, the system used to edit the university website, will be offered on Monday, May 13, from 2 to 4 p.m.

This basic-level session is tailored for editors who have either not edited the website before or need a refresher on using the software. The session will be held in Stevens 307. Sign up using this form.

As part of his sabbatical, President Robin Baker is taking the time to read through some of the letters of former president Levi Pennington, who led the college from 1911 to 1941. In his latest blog piece, Robin reflects on some of Pennington’s writings. You can read it here.

Once the dust settles from the end of the semester, please email any vehicle changes to Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu or bring your DMV registration slip to the Campus Public Safety office to update your registration. If you have moved since you registered, we need to know that as well.

If you work at the Portland Center and come frequently to the Newberg campus, please go to MyGFU and register for a staff parking permit to avoid being ticketed for non-registration when you come to Newberg.

Recently, President Robin Baker traveled to the South to visit Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia. During his stay, he had the opportunity to explore historic homes in the area, prompting him to reflect on the past and the importance of recognizing how history informs not only our past, but our future as well. You can read it here.

Robin also took time to share his thoughts on longtime university supporter, leader and alumnus Roger Minthorne, who recently passed away after helping guide and shape his alma mater for nearly three-quarters of a century. You can read his thoughts on Roger on this blog post.

Gather for a presentation by Sonny Ramaswamy, president of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, tomorrow (Thursday) from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Canyon Commons 101-103.

Portland Center students and employees can watch a live stream of the event in PDS 160 between 2:30 and 4 p.m.

As you may know, President Baker now serves the NWCCU as a commissioner. Our next full-scale accreditation visit will be spring 2021, and we will be working under a new set of standards. Sonny Ramaswamy’s presentation will likely address the standards and rule-making in Washington, D.C., that will impact our work.
