Parking lot restriping continues today, tomorrow

Sunday, May 17th, 2015

This is just a heads-up on where parking lot restriping will be taking place today (Monday, May 18), and hopefully tomorrow (Tuesday), weather permitting.

On Monday, we would ask you to please vacate the little parking lot by the River Street House, the western part of the Pennington lot closest to Stevens, and the Woolman apartment lots. If all the painting is able to be completed today, it won’t be necessary to vacate those lots on Tuesday. If that is the case, the Wood-Mar lot will need to be vacated on Tuesday, May 19.

Questions? Contact Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Reminder: ‘Burn-to-learn’ event is tomorrow

Friday, May 15th, 2015

On Sunday, May 17, the Newberg Fire Department will be doing a “burn-to-learn” on the Munn and North Street houses, at 1314 E. North St. and 1400 North St., respectively.

Fire crews will be at the site for most of the day as they do various exercises involving small fires inside the houses. North Street House will eventually be burned to the ground, but the north end of Munn House may be left to avoid damage to the nearby trees. The houses are being removed to prepare the area for the construction of a new dining hall.

If you choose to come and watch, please be considerate of the fire department crews and stay at a safe distance. After the fire department has finished with this area, do not walk in the burn area, as the rubble will remain hot and hazardous, and do not go into the remains of the Munn House. Plant Services crews will complete the demolition.

Questions or concerns? Contact the Office of Plant Services at 503-554-2010.

Parking lot restriping scheduled this week

Monday, May 11th, 2015

Depending on the weather, Plant Services will hopefully finish restriping the parking lots near Pennington, Weesner Village and Weesner House this week, in addition to the “lollipop” lot by Klages and the little Stevens lot. Projected dry days are Wednesday and Friday, but this could change.

Please don’t park in those lots on Wednesday and we will see how much gets finished. Alternate parking is available on Sheridan Street and by the tennis courts. If the lots aren’t all finished they will be completed on the next dry day, which could be Thursday or Friday. Keep an eye on Daily Bruin for more information.
