Invitation still open to participate in tomorrow’s parade

Thursday, July 28th, 2016

If you’ve ever wanted to be in a parade, this is your opportunity! George Fox has been asked to provide the grand marshal for this summer’s Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Parade, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 to 11 a.m.

It’s the start of our 125th year, and we want to recognize the people who have helped us get this far … our employees and students. This is your invitation to be one of the grand marshals for the parade.

We’re assembling a group of employees, students, parents and alumni to walk and hand out candy. It’ll probably take less than 20 minutes of walking. Some spots will be available for riding and waving. We’ll also have the Bruin bus, Professor Ed Higgins’ 1934 Ford flatbed truck, the Bruin bear (“Pennington”) and the Victory Bell.

Feel free to join us. We’ll meet at Newberg’s Renne Field (Blaine and 6th) at 9 a.m. We may even have some free T-shirts still available. Click this link for more info.

Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

July 31 is the last day eligible students can opt to live off campus. Opting to live off campus after this point will result in a $75 housing change late fee. Students who chose to move off campus (commute from home or otherwise) after the third week of the semester will not be eligible for a refund of housing charges and will be responsible for the full cost of the semester housing fees.

If you are planning to opt to live off campus, please pay attention to these deadlines and avoid any unnecessary charges!

Traditional undergrads: Student accounts needs your credits info

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

Traditional undergraduate students: Are you intentionally registered outside of the “block” for fall semester? (The “block” is 12 to 18 credits.) Please let student accounts know how many credits you will be taking so your estimated charges can be updated.

Email studentaccounts@georgefox.edu.

Insurance Waiver Reminder!

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

If you have been charged for health insurance and already have coverage, please go to university forms in MyGFU to complete your insurance waiver. Once finished, your charges will generally be updated within 24 hours.

If 24 hours has passed and you are still being charged, it is possible you did not complete the form fully. If you left any of the fields blank, your form will not be processed. A common mistake is to not furnish the address for your insurance policy.

To correct a previously submitted form you must go again to the University Forms area, but this time you need to select the completed form at the bottom (it doesn’t look like a hyperlink, but it is one!). Then simply reopen the form you submitted previously and add the needed information. Twenty-four hours later, your charges should be updated.

For additional help or information about insurance, email Molly Hickok at mhickok@georgefox.edu.

Don’t wait: Register your vehicle now

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

Hey students! Are you returning to Newberg in mid-August for sports or Welcome Weekend set-up? In order to have your parking permit waiting for you at Mail Services, you need to complete your vehicle registration by Monday, Aug. 1. Please allow at least two weeks for your permit to be processed and mailed to the address that you indicate.

If you are living on campus, please use your George Fox address and P.O. box number as your mailing address. If you are living off campus, you can use either your off-campus address or your George Fox P.O. box number.

All other students returning to campus during the last week of August should complete their vehicle registration no later than Aug. 12 to make certain that you will receive your permit before school starts. If you have a new vehicle and haven’t received your license plates yet, just register the temporary trip permit number as your license plate. Once your license plates arrive, contact security at the following email address or phone number and we can update your registration.

Questions? Out-of-the-box situation? Check the security webpages first, and if your question isn’t answered there, please email Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu by Aug. 1, or call 503-554-2090 during office hours.
