If you’ve ever wanted to be in a parade (and get a free George Fox T-shirt), this is your opportunity.
George Fox has been asked to provide the grand marshal for this summer’s Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Parade. It’s the start of our 125th year, and we want to recognize the people who have helped us get this far… our employees and students. This is your invitation to be one of the grand marshals for the parade.
Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Grand Festival Parade
Saturday, July 30
9-11 a.m.
Meet at Newberg’s Rennie Field (Blaine and 6th)
We’re assembling a group of employees, students, parents and alumni to walk and hand out candy. It’ll probably take less than 20 minutes of walking. Some spots will be available for riding and waving. We’ll also have the Bruin bus, Professor Ed Higgins’ 1934 Ford flatbed truck, the Bruin bear (“Pennington”) and the Victory Bell.
If you want a free T-shirt please sign up online by July 10. Follow this link for more info and to sign up for the T-shirt. You can pick up your T-shirt at 9 a.m. on parade day at the staging area.

Our wonderful custodians have been hard at work deep-cleaning all of the residences since school let out, and they have been bringing copious amounts of left-behind items to the lost and found, including clothing, kitchenware, cleaning supplies, a backpack, a rug runner, a scooter, long mirror, and various other things.
Many of these items came from the Lewis Apartments, Winters Apartments, Carey 2, Brandt (men’s side), etc. Now that you’ve unpacked, did you leave anything behind in those residences? If so, please contact security to describe your left-behind item(s), as most are tagged with where they were found.
Claimed items will only be kept until the first week of school, and the unclaimed items will be donated to charitable causes soon due to lack of space, so please call 503-554-2090 or email Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu to describe your left-behind item(s).
