Hoverboards not permitted on campus

Monday, August 15th, 2016

Due to safety concerns and fire risk associated with hoverboards that have been raised by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the potential impact to the safety of our community, George Fox University has decided to temporarily ban these devices.

Effective the spring 2016 semester until further notice, the use, possession, or storage of hoverboards, including all self-balancing type scooters and hands-free segways, will not be permitted on campus or on any George Fox property.

Contact Mark Pothoff for more information (mpothoff@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2313).

Invitation still open to participate in tomorrow’s parade

Thursday, July 28th, 2016

If you’ve ever wanted to be in a parade, this is your opportunity! George Fox has been asked to provide the grand marshal for this summer’s Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Parade, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 to 11 a.m.

It’s the start of our 125th year, and we want to recognize the people who have helped us get this far … our employees and students. This is your invitation to be one of the grand marshals for the parade.

We’re assembling a group of employees, students, parents and alumni to walk and hand out candy. It’ll probably take less than 20 minutes of walking. Some spots will be available for riding and waving. We’ll also have the Bruin bus, Professor Ed Higgins’ 1934 Ford flatbed truck, the Bruin bear (“Pennington”) and the Victory Bell.

Feel free to join us. We’ll meet at Newberg’s Renne Field (Blaine and 6th) at 9 a.m. We may even have some free T-shirts still available. Click this link for more info.
