Registration for the 2017 Summer Online term at George Fox is now open! Space is limited to 20 students per class, and some are filling up quickly (though all currently have room for more students).

All online courses are offered at 50 percent off tuition, a huge savings, and are taught by experienced George Fox professors. The courses range from required general education options in Bible all the way through math, nutrition, psychology, English, music and more! Check out the options at this link.

Tips on managing stress offered at today’s workshop

Stress is a constant in our lives, but how we manage stress can change the quality of life. Today (Wednesday), the Academic Resource Center will host a workshop, “My Computer Crashed, My Project is Lost, and I’m out of Detergent: Strategies for Managing Stress,” that will help you learn how to manage stress and use it to your advantage.

Members of our Health and Counseling Center staff will be our presenters. Join us from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in Stevens 109.

PT hosts banquet, silent auction as fundraiser for Africa trip

A group of George Fox physical therapy students will be going on a medical missions trip to Africa May 30 to June 13, and we are organizing a banquet/silent auction to help raise money for the trip!

The university community is welcome to attend the banquet and auction at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in Canyon Commons. Tickets are $25 and cover the cost of dinner and one entry into a random drawing for a gift basket. All proceeds go directly to our trip.

At the dinner, we will auction off various gift baskets and gift certificates generously donated by community members and businesses. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting Jessica Dinielli (jdinielli15@georgefox.edu). Can’t make it to the banquet but would like to donate? You can do so at this link.

Smith speaks on cosmology and theology tomorrow night

Phil Smith, professor of philosophy, will give a lecture for the Science and Religion Club tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7 p.m. in EHS 102. All are welcome to join us!

Professor Smith will be introducing some interesting theological speculations that have come out recently regarding science and cosmology, and if we are really lucky he might even talk about aliens. Also, there will be pizza!

‘The Wineskin’ is now accepting submissions

The Wineskin, the university’s student literary and art magazine, is now accepting submissions for the Spring 2017 issue. If you are a writer, photographer or artist, this is a great chance to get your work published in a journal.

This issue’s theme is “Black/White, Day/Night.” The Wineskin is particularly looking for pieces dealing with the relationship of opposites and oppositional forces. Feel free to interpret this creatively – you are the artist! We are asking for:

  • Fiction & Non-Fiction Prose: 750-word limit, must be a stand-alone piece (no book excerpts)
  • Poetry: Three-submission limit
  • Photography: Black and white; include title and send as a 300 dpi image
  • Art: Black and white; include 300 dpi image (The Wineskin is happy to take a quality image for you – email for more information!)

Not all pieces will be selected, but feel free to submit your best work by Monday, March 20. Email any questions and/or submission(s) to gfuwineskin@gmail.com. Please email submissions as an attached document.
