Students needed for Welcome Weekend video: A recreation of ‘La La Land’ scene

Tuesday, July 11th, 2017

Hey George Fox students! We are currently working on the annual Welcome Weekend video in marketing communications, and we need people to be in it! It will be a recreation of the opening traffic scene from La La Land with rewritten lyrics specific to George Fox. Here is a link to the original scene, if you haven’t seen it.

We are putting this video together on Aug. 7 and 8. If you are available to come to campus on those days and would like to be a part of this project, send an email to Ethan Patterson at epatterson15@georgefox.edu. I’ll hit you up with some details, a demo version of the track in progress, as well as the lyrics.

Thank you!

Interested in doing a sports broadcasting internship this fall?

Sunday, July 9th, 2017

Interested in getting a front-row seat to university athletic events while also gaining broadcasting experience? If so, consider doing a sports broadcasting internship this fall.

We’re looking for individuals to do play-by-play, color commentating and reporting as our Bruin teams hit the courts and fields in 2017-18. The internship affords students the opportunity to take their communications game to the next level by jumping on the mic to help report game action. The internship is led by Brad Neuhoff, who has more than 25 years of television experience, including stops in Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis and, most recently, in Portland, where he oversaw the news operation at KOIN 6.

Under Brad’s leadership in 2016-17, George Fox students were at center court calling the shots on the mic as the women’s basketball team competed in the NCAA Division III playoffs. He also brought in some of the area’s best broadcasters, like Trail Blazers play-by-play radio man Brian Wheeler, for some one-on-one advice.

If you’re interested in this unique opportunity, we want to hear from you. Please contact Brad at wneuhoff@georgefox.edu.

Who’s on Campus this Month …

Sunday, July 9th, 2017
  • NBC Camps for basketball and volleyball will be on campus July 10-14 and July 17-21.
  • Newberg Christian Church will host a week-long soccer day camp as an outreach to non-church-attending Newberg community youth at Austin Field July 17-21. Last year, 27 children committed their lives to Christ as a result of this outreach, and many have been instrumental in getting additional family members involved in attending church and Bible studies on a regular basis. Approximately 95 people attend this event.
  • The Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (NWYM) is hosting its annual church conference on campus July 23-26. This is the longest-running summer conference at George Fox. The NWYM is a community of evangelical Friends churches who join together in worship and service to impact society through love in action. They utilize the art office located in Ross as their headquarters while on campus.
  • The Chinese Evangelical Church meets for an annual church retreat July 28-30. Several Chinese churches from Oregon and Washington gather each summer to worship together and share what God is doing in and through their congregations.

Please contact the Conference and Event Office if you have questions: 503-554-2027.
