2009 Housing Selection begins on BruinData

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Fall 2009 Housing Selection will be online in BruinData Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20. You may fill out the form anytime this week. The form will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Housing rankings are based on credit hours, so your placement will not be affected by when you complete the form.

To get to the form, login to BruinData. Select the “My Data” tab and then “Housing Group Signups.” There will be a series of forms that walk you through the process.

One person from each group will fill out the form for the whole group. That person will need the housing codes from everyone in the group. Housing codes can be found on the first page of the Housing Groups Signup.

If you would like to help going through the process, there is a computer set up in the Student Life Office. You may use this computer to go through sign-ups with one of the housing staff to help answer questions.

If you have questions about the selection process, please stop by or call the Student Life Office, ext. 2310 or email housing@georgefox.edu.

Consider choosing an international roommate

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

As you think about who you want to live with next year, we encourage you to consider choosing an international roommate.  It is so important in today’s world to have a broader understanding of different cultures and people groups.  What better way to broaden your worldview than to live with someone from a different country.  The time you are living at George Fox may be your only opportunity to live with someone from another culture so we encourage you to talk to international students and find someone who will make a good roommate for you.

If you have questions about living with an international student you may contact Alex Pia (503-554-2643, apia@georgefox.edu) or Dianna McIntyre (503-554-2649, dmcintyr@georgefox.edu).

University hosts memorial service for Ryan Bartlett Sunday

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

This Sunday, March 15, at 3 p.m., a memorial service will be held in Hoover 105 for Ryan Bartlett, who died tragically in a car accident in Malawi in December, where he and his family were serving as missionaries with Free Methodist World Missions.

Ryan graduated from George Fox in 1994 as a business management major with a call to ministry. After graduation, he married Katie Bertagna and pursued his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. After completing his education, he served as senior pastor of Prescott Free Methodist Church in Arizona for five years and was ordained as a minister in 2005.

In 2007, with Free Methodist World Missions, Ryan began his service as principal of the Great Commission Bible School in Malawi, Africa. He is survived by his wife, Katie, and three children. A memorial service was held in December in Roseburg, but this memorial service allows the George Fox community and other supporters of his ministry to gather and to celebrate his life. The service will be led by Paul Anderson, Ryan’s college mentor and friend. Childcare will be provided.
