Attention All Fox Students!

The theatre’s Winter production of A Grand Night For Singing will be showing on February 4-6 and 11-13 @ 7:30 pm and November 7 @ 2 pm.

A Grand Night for Singing is a musical review of Thirty-Six of Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s most memorable romantic ballads. The arc of Grand Night takes the audience on a musical journey through all the emotional stages of love.

All George Fox University students will receive one complementary ticket for Student Night on Thursday night. Your complimentary ticket is only available at the Box Office in the University Bookstore.

Director, producer Merchant speaks at forum Feb. 1

This Monday, Feb. 1, Dan Merchant, the writer, director and producer of Lord, Save Us from Your Followers, will speak at the university’s Liberal Arts and Critical Issues Forum. Merchant spent the last four years traveling the U.S. talking to people from all viewpoints about Christianity and civility.  He will show highlights from his documentary and share about his experiences.

Two sessions are scheduled, from 4:40 to 5:35 p.m. and from 7 to 7:55 p.m. Both will take place in Hoover 105 on the Newberg campus.

The theatre’s winter production of A Grand Night For Singing will be showing in Wood-Mar Auditorium Feb. 4-6 and Feb. 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m.

There will be food, live music (including Chad Strutz from Just Lions), a wide array of different gifts from local vendors, and good company. Some of the local vendors include Honest Chocolate, Scarf it Up, and authors Dirk Barram, Jim Foster and Erin Macy. A percentage of sales are going toward the Patrick Kibler Fund and the Women’s and Children’s Shelter in Newberg.

YWAM team visits to show ‘Jesus Freaks’ film Feb. 2-3

The university is invited to a showing of Jesus Freaks at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 2-3, in Hoover 105.

Jesus Freaks is a character-driven documentary chronicling a Youth With a Mission discipleship training school that uses skateboarding and snow boarding as tools for ministry. The film follows the lives of students as they wrestle with faith, relationships, substance abuse and death.

A YWAM team will be here both nights the film is shown on campus. Come hear their stories, watch the film and support them as they take their ministry to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C.

Sex trafficking in Oregon discussed at meeting Jan. 28

The university community is invited to hear Howard Kenyon, co-chair of the board of human trafficking for the Oregon Center for Christian Values, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in Hoover 206. Kenyon will speak about sex trafficking in Oregon.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about the multitude of issues OCCV covers, what sex trafficking looks like in Portland, and recent legislation regarding human trafficking (look for info on HB 3623). The event is sponsored by the university’s International Justice Mission Chapter. It was originally scheduled for last week but was changed.

Presenter Martha Iancu teaches English using Fluency First techniques and experienced them as a learner of Spanish.

The 8-week training course for all Spiritual Life Assistants (SLA’s) begins this Friday, January 29th at 10:30am. SLA’s have been selected by their RA’s (or Athletic Coach) in collaboration with Spiritual Life to serve as a spiritual leader in their living area (or athletic team). There are 4 potential Spiritual Life credits for attending all 8 classes and 4 more for leading a discipleship group in your area.

If you would like to pursue volunteering as an SLA, please contact your RA, Coach, &/or Spiritual Life.

Mail Services’ service window closed at 3 p.m. Tuesday
