Anderson’s church presentations can be taken as May term class

Paul Anderson (Religious Studies) will teach a six-week series (April 18 to May 26) at Reedwood Friends Church on “The Riddles of the Fourth Gospel.” The series can be taken as a one-hour May term class (BIBL 485) if desired. Marcus Borg will join Paul for a public dialogue on the “Gospels and Jesus in Bi-Optic Perspective” on May 19 and a special Saturday, May 22, session.

Sessions meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon. Reedwood Friends Church is located at 2901 S.E. Steele, in Portland. There is no charge, and the public is welcome.

Medical Missions: Eye Care in Africa

Are you interested in Health Care or Medical Missions?  Devin Harrison, MD will be giving a talk entitled, “Medical Missions: Eye Care in Africa.”   Dr. Harrison worked in Nigeria for two years caring for some of the world’s neediest patients, performing eye surgeries and training local doctors.  He received the 2008 American Academy of Opthalmology Humanitarian Award.

Bruin Bookstore donates April 20 proceeds to May Serve team

Doctor speaks about medical missions April 15 in Hoover 105

May Serve team hosts car wash fundraiser April 17

The Big Guide Essay Contest

This is an opportunity to win a $25 dollar visa card! Career Services, George Fox University is having the “Big Guide Writing Contest” on Newberg Campus. Students who lived and worked overseas are welcome to share your experience abroad in this event. To participate, you will need to:

          1. Register for The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas online at:

                 careers.georgefox.edu

             2. Write a 250-300 words essay about your travels abroad:

                 Express how you may have used The Big Guide in your journey

                   3. Include your name, year of school, time and place of travel at the top of your essay

             4. Submit to careers@georgefox.edu with “Essay Contest” as the subject
