Housing selection will be available online in just over a week (March 14-18).
Here are some short reminders and answers to common questions to help make the process go smoothly.
1) Make sure you have paid your housing deposit to Student Financial Services no later than 5:00 p.m.on March 11th.
2) If you have questions about the process stop by the Student Life Office or e-mail housing@georgefox.edu.
3) Some have expressed concern to us that there will not be enough space in University housing for everyone. With a slightly smaller incoming class next year and additional housing added last summer there should be ample space on campus. We are not able to release additional students off campus in order to make more space for new students.
4) The university residency requirement is that all full-time undergraduates under 21 years of age and with less than 93 credits live in campus housing. There has been no change in this policy.

What can be done to bring awareness and offer solutions concerning the sex trade industry? George Fox will host a New Abolitionists event next week that addresses the issue of sex slavery at both the local and international levels.
Following is a listing of planned events:
Monday, March 7
- Keynote speaker Tom Davis from Children’s HopeChest, a Christian-advocacy organization that provides support for orphans in more than 70 locations worldwide, will speak during chapel at 10:40 a.m. In addition, a short film, Kavi, will be shown during chapel. Kavi, a 2010 Academy Award nominee for Best Live Action Short Film, is a fictional story highlighting the issue of modern slavery through bonded labor.
- Children’s HopeChest will set up Orphan Experience, an interactive, multi-sensory art exhibit that draws viewers into the stories of orphans by displaying media presentations as well as artifacts, such as clothing or food, that are taken from HopeChest’s program sites. Drop by between 8 and 10 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room.
Tuesday, March 8
- The film Born into Brothels will be shown at 9 p.m. in the EHS 102. Directed by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski, Born into Brothels depicts the lives of several children living in the red light district of Calcutta, where their mothers are prostitutes. Briski, a New York-based photographer, teaches the children how to use cameras and shows them how to look at the world with different eyes.
Wednesday, March 9
- Stephanie Mathis will speak during chapel at 10:40 a.m. Mathis is the spiritual formation director at Warner Pacific College and an activist for the Oregon Center for Christian Values, which educates Christians on social issues and works to stop sex trafficking in Oregon and around the world.
