The Bruin Den has reopened with hours of service weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until classes start on Aug. 29. At that time we will resume our normal 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. schedule. The Villa Cafe will reopen on Aug. 29.

Work on the EHS and Wood-Mar fire alarm system will continue on Monday, Aug. 15, and possibly Tuesday, Aug. 16. Employees who work in these buildings will be able to enter via card access. Others needing access should call ext. 2140. Everyone entering either building must sign in at Academic Affairs (Wood-Mar 204).

FoxTALE will be unavailable from 6 to 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Tuesday, Aug. 16, for scheduled maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The “foxguest” wireless access key will be changed at the Boise, Portland and Salem centers and on the Newberg campus on Monday, Aug. 15. The new key can be found on the front page of mygfu.georgefox.edu or by contacting the IT Service Desk.

Those at the Portland Center and on the Newberg campus are strongly encouraged to connect to the “foxwifi” network rather than the “foxguest” network. Foxwifi is more secure. For help connecting to foxwifi, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Students-in order to have your parking permit ready for you when school starts, you MUST register your vehicle by Friday, August 12th. If you register after that date, you will most likely not have a parking permit waiting for you at Mail Services when school starts.

If you are planning on living off-campus, and have not notified Housing, your parking permit will NOT be issued until that is done. Please contact housing@georgefox.edu and let them know of your intent to live off-campus. Once you have been granted off-campus status, then your parking permit will be issued if you have registered on myGFU. As of Thursday, Aug. 11th, approximately 500+ commuters need to either register their vehicles or alert housing.

Even if you are NOT planning on bringing a vehicle to campus, you still must register that intent on myGFU.

Thank you for your prompt attention to completing these required items by Friday, Aug. 12.

Wood-Mar Hall and EHS will have limited access during the week of August 8-12 due to extensive work on the fire alarm system. Card access only will be available through the west (parking lot) doors of Wood-Mar Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. If you need to enter these buildings, you must sign in and out at the Academic Affairs Office and indicate the room(s) where you will be working.

Please call ext. 2140 if you need to access the building and do not have card access.

The West Coast Christian Conference will bring more than 1,200 guests to the Newberg campus this week.  Conference guests will represent several west coast Chinese-American Churches and international locations.  They will use a majority of the campus for meetings.

A rare Ethiopian manuscript of the four Gospels belonging to Queen/Empress Zewditu (1916-1930) is on special display at the Murdock Learning Resource Center from Aug. 1-18.  The hours for the library are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  After this display, the manuscript will be returned to Ethiopia.

Packages that have come to GFU Mail Services addressed to new or returning students are being kept at Mail Services. (This includes Parking Permits).  The items will be available for you to pick up when you arrive on campus.  If you live in the area, you may come pick them up now.

The Wheeler/Le Shana Parking lots will be closed for resurfacing the week of Aug. 8-12. The Wheeler service road will also be closed for part of this time for patching.

Sign and Submit your July Time sheet to your Supervisor!

Don’t forget to turn in your July time sheets to your supervisor at the end of your last shift of the month.  Be sure your name is typed or printed legibly at the top, it is complete and accurate, and you have signed it.  Payday is on Monday, August 15th.  Thank you!

Plant Services will be having a sale on surplus items from campus. Items for sale will include furniture, binders, office supplies, etc. The sale will be held at Plant Services on Friday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m.  to noon.  More details coming soon.

Students-the summer is rapidly drawing to a close, and many of you have yet to either register your vehicle, or to register as not bringing a vehicle to campus. In order to have your parking permit waiting for you at Mail Services when you return to campus, you MUST register by Friday, August 12. We can’t guarantee your parking permit will be ready by the time school starts for any registrations received after that date, so register TODAY.

You can now review your fall charges online and set up payment plans for the coming year! Sign up for monthly payments by August 1st and we will waive the $35 fee for each term included on the payment plan form. (If you will be paying your balance prior to semester start, you do not need a payment plan.)

Regardless of how you plan to pay, the George Fox University Payment Estimator is available online for your use. This planning tool is extremely helpful for families as they look toward making payment for the coming academic year. More information on how to begin monthly payments is also available with the estimator.
