Vehicle Registration Information for Undergraduate Students

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Due to changes in the university’s administrative software (MYGFU) students will now be required to register their car each year.

All questions regarding vehicle registration should be directed to Nadine Kincaid (nkincaid@georgefox.edu) in the Security Office.

Please read the following instructions carefully.

HOW TO REGISTER A CAR ON MYGFU
(FOR STUDENTS)

Log on to MYGFU.

Once logged onto MYGFU, select Self Service from the shaded box in the upper left-hand corner.

Next click on University Forms (to the right of Self Service).

Click on the New Vehicle Registration link.

Enter all of your vehicle information in the empty boxes. License plates should be typed in using all caps with NO spaces or dashes. Click OK if you are only registering one vehicle.

If Commuters need to enter a second vehicle, click on Additional Vehicle after filling out the boxes for the first vehicle, and a new set of empty boxes should appear. Fill those out for the second vehicle and click OK.

If your information was entered correctly a message will pop-up saying : “The Save Was Successful.” If you do not receive this message please look over your information and correct any mistakes. Remember: use all capital letters but do not use spaces or dashes!

Your parking permit will be mailed to you at your campus mailbox where you will be asked to sign for it confirming your receipt of the permit. Please read the enclosed parking brochure carefully.

Students staying on campus are only allowed to register ONE vehicle (a motorcycle is considered to be your ONE vehicle). Commuters can register up to two vehicles, and will receive a permit for each vehicle, but are charged for only ONE vehicle permit. Married students are only charged for one vehicle, and one spouse should register as NOCAR, and the other spouse should register the one or two vehicles to avoid having both spouses charged.

Students living within the Good Neighbor Zone (locations around the GFU campus) and NOT applying for a commuter permit in addition to the Good Neighbor Permit, need to register in person at the Security Office.

Proof of residence (bills, checks, letter from landlord) with the name and address printed on it need to be brought along in order to procure a gratis Neighborhood Permit. All Neighborhood Permits are issued only in the Security Office, and can be done before the semester begins to avoid long waits (and potential parking tickets before the Add/Drop date.

Neighborhood Permits must be returned to the Security office at the end of the school year to avoid a $5 replacement fee.

All student vehicles found parked on campus or in the neighborhood without a valid permit after the Add/Drop date will automatically be charged for a non-refundable parking permit.

For more information please check out the Security Department’s website:

If you need assistance with your parking questions, please call 503-554-2090.
