Valley Repertory Theatre production of Harvey – March 8-10 and March 15-17

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Valley Repertory Theatre, Newberg’s own professional theatre company, is proud to announce the upcoming March 8, 2012 opening of their production of Mary Chase’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Harvey.

The play follows one chaotic day in the life of the Elwood P. Dowd, a man who believes that his best friend is a six-foot-tall invisible white rabbit named Harvey. When his sister tries to have Elwood committed to the local sanitarium, a series of incidents unfold, threatening to forever alter Elwood and the people he touches. This hilarious, family-friendly comedy offers sharp wit, unforgettable characters and romance, with a strong dose of insanity.

The show runs for two weekends only, Thursday-Saturday, March 8-10 and 15-17 at 7:30 pm. 2pm matinee performances will run Sunday, March 11 and 18. Performances will take place at the Central Stage at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St. Newberg, OR 97132. The show is directed by Caleb Thurston, GFU alum.

All tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for students, and will be sold at the door, beginning thirty minutes before each show. Both Thursday evening performances are “pay what you will.” Seating is limited.

Reservations are recommended and may be made in advance by contacting Valley Rep at 971-832-9202 or tickets@valleyrep.org.

Valley Repertory Theatre (VRT) was founded earlier this year by George Fox University alumni, Stephen Pick and Caleb Thurston.

Urban Services Clothing Drive

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Hey Everyone,

Urban Services is doing another clothing drive for our homeless friends in Salem and Portland February through March.

We are collecting gloves, warm crew-socks, beanies, and dark hoodies sizes L to 3XL (hoodies can be zip-up or pull-over). For those of you who are wondering, our friends on the street prefer dark colors because dark looks cleaner longer and draws less attention.

There are two blue collection bins. One is in front of the ASC office in the Bruin Den and the other is on the first floor of Hoover (on the clock tower side).

Thank you all for your participation in the past. It is always such a blessing to see how God provides.

If you have questions about Urban Services or about what you can donate, contact Mary Owen (mowen10@georgefox.edu) or Heather Mabry (hmabry07@georgefox.edu)

God bless!
