Clear your cache to ensure you get redesigned web pages

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

As a result of our latest redesign, the majority of pages on the university website have been redesigned, giving them a new, professional and consistent look. When browsing the website, it’s possible that your web browser isn’t actually showing you the most recent page. If a page doesn’t look like it has changed, or looks broken in some way, you might need to force your web browser to download the newest version. This process is called clearing your cache.

This is an easy task to accomplish and depends on what operating system and browser your computer is using.

On a PC
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox: hold down the control button and press “F5.”

On a Mac
Mozilla Firefox: hold down command, shift, and press “r.”

Safari: Go to the Safari menu and choose the “Empty Cache” option.

This will force the page to update and remove any old content that the web browser may have been showing you.

An immediate need has materialized for a car for the duration (or even a portion) of their stay, Aug. 30 through Dec. 15. If you or anyone you know would be willing to donate a car for David and Lenuta to use while at George Fox, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact the Office of Spiritual Life if this is something you are able to do: spirituallife@georgefox.edu or ext. 2320.

Host families needed for new international students

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

George Fox is expecting 56 new international students this fall, and they start arriving on campus this week. Because of the housing crunch, we are not able to put students into campus housing as soon as they arrive. So, we are looking for families who would be willing to have two international students stay in their home.

Students will need housing the nights of Aug. 17 or 18 to Aug. 26. Families are asked to provide breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided on campus. We also ask families to provide transportation to George Fox between 8 and 8:30 a.m. and pick up students at approximately 5 p.m. Host families will receive a stipend to help defray some of the costs.

Please call Dianna McIntyre (ext. 2649 or dmcintyre@georgefox.edu) or Alex Pia (ext. 2643 or apia@georgefox.edu) if you are able to host some students. If you know of others who might be interested, please let us know so we may contact them.
