The university is expecting approximately 30 to 40 new international students this fall. They will be arriving on Aug. 19 to begin the international student orientation.
Rather than house these students in empty dorm rooms during orientation, we are looking for about 15 to 20 families who would be willing to have up to two international students stay in their home the nights of Aug. 19-25 (students would be free to be with the families the entire weekend of Aug. 19-21).
Families are asked to provide breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be provided on campus during orientation. We also ask families to provide transportation to George Fox between 8 and 8:30 a.m. and pick students up at approximately 5 p.m. Host families will receive a stipend to help defray some of the costs of meals and transportation.
If you are interested in serving as a host family, please contact Dianna McIntyre (dmcintyre@georgefox.edu) or Alex Pia (apia@georgefox.edu). If you know of others who might be interested, please let us know so we may contact them.
Thank you for your willingness to consider this opportunity.

Student supervisors: Pay day is Monday, May 16, so please submit your students’ April time sheets to HR right away — by Tuesday, May 3 by 3 p.m. I apologize for the short time frame. The time is needed for the extra processing for the last payroll of the school year. So meeting this deadline is crucial.
If your student has school-year hours that are continuing into the first few days of May, please include these hours on a May School Year time sheet and submit it to HR as soon as they are done for the year.
Please be sure the student’s name, ID number and cost center number is legible on each one. Also, don’t forget to total them, sign them and be sure the students did as well. (Please make sure the student has signed his or her time sheet. If they don’t get it signed, a copy will be mailed for them to sign and return. Do not hold any time sheets just for a student’s signature.) Please do not send students to HR to sign their time sheets.
Federal Work Study regulations require that students delivering their own time sheets must have them placed, by you, in a sealed envelope.
ATTENTION: Summer student employee orientation is Monday, May 2, at 9 a.m. in EHS 102. This is required for ALL summer student employees.
Thanks very much.
HR
