Be wary of counterfeit money circulating in Newberg area

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Financial Affairs reports that some counterfeit money is being handed out in the Newberg area. We had one in our deposit today and have no way to know where it came from. What we had was a $10 bill, but others could be around also.

The best way to tell is by holding the bill up to a light. There should be a narrow strip running from top to bottom of the bill and a picture of the president (only seen when held up to the light) on the side of the bill. We do not feel this was passed to us intentionally, but it should be something we all watch for.

If you have any questions, please contact Jan Amerson in Financial Affairs at ext. 2164.

Be considerate of guests when parking this week

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

With several guests visiting campus this week, please be considerate when parking. The Bauman lot will be the primary parking area for those attending the OSAA state choir competition through Saturday, so please use the Stevens or Wood-Mar lots.

Also, a Target commercial is being filmed on various locations on campus Thursday and Friday. Please leave the Pennington, Le Shana and Winters parking lots open for the crew’s trucks and vehicles.

Target commercial filming on campus May 4-6

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

About 50 members of a film crew will be on the Newberg campus Wednesday through Friday (May 4-6) to film a series of advertisements for Target. The video and still photography will be used in a back-to-school online advertising campaign in the fall.

The commercials were created by national ad firm Wieden+Kennedy and are being filmed by a local film company. They will be filming in the Klages Dining Hall, Bruin Den, Pennington Hall, Le Shana Hall and Winters Apartments. Please leave the Pennington, Le Shana and Winters parking lots open for their trucks and vehicles.

Print Services remains open for business over summer break

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Print Services will be open all summer and is ready to fill all of your orders. The more items that we have prior to your departure will make your return in late August that much easier.

A very important item to send in before you leave is anything that holds copyright. If you are not sure that you will use it, but might, that is OK; we don’t have to make the purchase but we do need at least eight weeks to be able to get the copyright permission.

When you send your request, please include the title and ISBN of the actual book or magazine that we will be making the copies from. Also, be sure to include your name, a phone number and/or an e-mail where we can reach you, the class name, class number, exact page numbers, and copyright year. Send us the actual book and we will be ready to make the copies as soon as you approve its use.

Questions? Contact Elizabeth Holme at eholme@georgefox.edu or ext. 2550.

May Term/Summer workstudy parking information

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Staff, faculty, May Term and summer workstudy students: Many of you have been wondering if Staff/Resident East/Resident West/Commuter parking lot restrictions still apply during May Term and the rest of the summer. During the summer, staff and faculty still need to park in the staff-only lots like Hoover, Wood-Mar, Stevens and around Minthorne and Mail Services.

The visitor rows in Hoover and Stevens need to always be kept free for the frequent visitors to campus. If there are spots available in the staff lots after the workday has begun, then students can potentially use those spots. However, there will be many times this summer when those empty spots will be needed for various groups and events happening on campus like the state choir competition this week, Genesis, Northwest Yearly Meeting, etc. We’d like to ask you to not park there when we have big events on campus.

If your summer residence is the Woolman, Winters, or Lewis apartments, please keep your cars in those parking lots and walk to your work assignments. Also, please keep watching E-nnouncements for further parking updates when various lots need to be kept empty.

If you have questions, contact Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.

Thanks!
– Security Services

Ode to May Employee of the Month

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Ode to May Employee of the Month . . . or HR Calls for EOM nominations by May 20

Another year has slipped away
And here it is, the month of May
Most of the students are long gone,
While staff are left to carry on.
Who’s a colleague who has impressed you –
Whose work deserves a word or two?
Please nominate an Employee for May,
Send me a note – what do you say?
Deadline is the 20th, right at noon,
That’s plenty of time, not too soon.
