What have you wanted to ask someone of another race or a different culture but are too afraid? What is a label that has been unfairly given to you? What is your first thought when the word “race” is said?
These questions and more will be discussed at the second annual student-led Diversity Forum on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room. ASC will be hosting a time where students can come and talk about race, diversity, culture and other important identity questions in a safe and student-only discussion.

This Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11, we are expecting more than 500 additional high school students and parents to join us for both days due to the scholarship competitions taking place. They will be eating lunch in Klages between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday and between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. We’d like to ask as many of our regular students as possible not to come for lunch until after 1 p.m. on Friday in order to avoid most of the crowds.
On Saturday, if at all possible, please arrive before 11 a.m. or after 1 p.m. In order to accommodate all of these visitors as well as our regular students, we will be serving both these meals on disposable paper plates and would like to encourage all GFU students to take their meals out of the dining room those days so that we have enough room for our visitors. The Cap and Gown Room will be available for overflow seating.
Thanks for your help and let’s all work to make this a good experience for our visitors and prospective students!
The university will be hosting a volleyball tournament in Wheeler Gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 12. The gym, racquetball courts, and both the upstairs and downstairs lobbies will be in use. The Fitness Center will be available at the normal hours.
Just a friendly reminder: Be sure to avoid parking in the Stevens and Hoover lots Friday, Feb. 10, so we leave those spots open for our Scholarship Competition guests.
Thank you!
