Shane Claiborne speaks on Newberg campus March 8

Speaker and author Shane Claiborne will be on the Newberg campus to speak three times on Monday, March 8.

Claiborne will speak in chapel at 10:40 a.m. in Bauman Auditorium and be available for a talk-back session afterwards in the Cap and Gown Room. He also will speak that afternoon from 4:40 to 5:35 p.m., when he presents on the topic “Counter Culture: Christians for a New Monasticism” at the Liberal Arts in Critical Issues forum in Hoover 105. Finally, he will speak from 9 to 10 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium.

Claiborne is the author of several books, including Jesus for President, Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers and The Irresistible Revolution. He also coauthored Follow Me to Freedom with Dr. John Perkins. A prominent Christian activist, Claiborne travels extensively speaking about peacemaking, social justice and Jesus. He is the founder of The Simple Way, a monastic community in Philadelphia.

Please note: Claiborne was originally scheduled to speak at 7 p.m.; that meeting has been moved to 9 p.m.
