Do you have food and kitchenware you do not want to pack when you leave for the summer? Help support your peers by donating to the Bruin Community Pantry!

Here is how you can contribute before the semester ends.

What to Donate

• Kitchenware: Any gently used, functional items, clothing, hangers, etc.
• Food: Unopened, non-perishable food items
• Flex Points: You can use remaining meal plan points at the Maker’s Market or Bridge Café to purchase items for the pantry’s “Grab & Go” section.

Drop off your donations at the Bruin Community Pantry by Friday, May 1.

• Monday, 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Friday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Do you have reusable items that you don’t want to take home? In an effort to keep dumpsters from overflowing and to be better stewards of resources, the Office of Plant Services will collect these items to give them a second life.

We are happy to accept reusable donations from Monday, April 27, through Monday, May 4.

Please place all donated items in bags inside the collection barrels located in residence hall lobbies across campus. For those in apartments and houses, items can be brought to the receiving bay located to the left of the main entrance at Plant Services (#53 on the campus map) during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), during finals week.

Please note that we do not accept trash, damaged or dirty items, undergarments, socks, liquids or chemicals. However, you may place labeled chemicals in a bag or box next to the donation barrels for proper disposal. All sealed, unexpired food should be taken directly to the Bruin Community Pantry in Lewis Apartment #1.

Additional guidelines for large items include:

• Electronics: Working appliances and electronics can be placed next to the lobby collection barrels or brought to Plant Services.
• Large Non-working Items: These should be placed next to the outside dumpsters and labeled “broken” for collection. Do not place items where they could pose a trip hazard or impede traffic flow.
• Prohibited Trash: By law, computers, monitors and TVs cannot be placed in trash dumpsters.

The Bruin Community Pantry will be open during the following days and times this summer, May 5 through Aug. 27.

Need a reason to get takeout? Now you have one! Today (Monday), Panda Express will be donating 28% of all online orders using the code 9014720 to the Doctor of Physical Therapy’s medical service trip to Uganda.

This fundraiser will occur all day today and is a nationwide fundraiser, so friends and family can contribute as well. Feel free to spread the word. The trip is fast approaching and every contribution helps!

Starting today (Friday), Canyon Commons is opening its doors as an evening study sanctuary to help you power through your finals. From now through Thursday, April 30, the seating area will remain open and available for students to spread out and study once the daily dinner service concludes until 11 p.m.

Whether you need a large table for your textbooks or a change of scenery to stay focused, feel free to make use of the space each night to finish the semester strong. Good luck with your studies!

Join us for the last Saturday Service of the school year at Wood Ministry this weekend. We will meet at 9 a.m. at Fernwood Pioneer Cemetery, located at 500 S. Everest Road, in Newberg.

Please wear closed-toed shoes (preferably sturdy) and pants (not shorts). Serving will include stacking wood and loading wood onto splitters.
