Instructions for university printing

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

As the university prepares to transition its printing needs to an outside source, we have partnered with Allegra Printing in Newberg. They have provided instructions for submitting print jobs; please read carefully.

  • Submit all files and print requests to Shoshannah Smith at smiths@allegranewberg.com.
  • PDF files are required. For graphic posters, we prefer 1-up with .125” bleeds and crop marks. If you’re sending booklets with spreads, please be certain they are in printer spreads, not reader spreads, and have numbered pages.
  • Booklets can be submitted as 1-up single sheets in order and we will make them into booklets.
  • Standard short-run pieces take three to five business days; however, we can at times do next-day return. If you know a project is coming up and call ahead, we can put it on our schedule. We cannot do next-day return on wide format pieces.
  • Please call 503-538-7345 with any questions. Quotes need to be done through email, so if you call in a quote, please leave email contact information.

If you have any further questions, you are welcome to contact Richard Silver at rsilver@georgefox.edu.

The Plant Services grounds department has five openings for a summer groundskeeping job. That’s a solid 40 hours per week working in the great outdoors.

Stop by the ARC to write a thank-you note for a mentor

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

Is there someone at George Fox who has made a difference in your college experience? Did someone ignite a spark that made you want to learn more than you thought you could, someone who walked alongside you during a difficult season, or a person who has been a mentor?

Take a moment to write an email, e-card, or traditional thank-you card to that professor, coach, RA, tutor, supervisor, or other influential person. Stop by the ARC in the library to pick up a free blank card, or send or create your own.

Questions? Contact Julia James at jjames@georgefox.edu.

Apply to work as a painter this summer

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

College Pro is currently hiring painters for those sticking around for the summer. The painter role is a fun and challenging position, ideal for someone wanting to get hands-on work experience and make money over the summer.

Painters will work outside with a crew of two to three people. Working with friends is encouraged, so apply together if you wish! Training is provided; therefore, no experience is necessary

Information regarding bicycles for summer semester

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

Campus Public Safety will be conducting its annual bicycle roundup starting Monday, May 6. If you are staying on campus over the summer and plan to keep a bike here, please come to Campus Public Safety to get a sticker ID so your bike will not be removed.

  • At the end of the spring semester, a university-wide bicycle cleanup is done. Bicycles that are illegally parked, unregistered or inoperable are impounded. Bicycle racks need to be cleared to do routine maintenance to the bike racks and surrounding areas.
  • Bicycles may not be stored on the campus during the summer semester. Bicycle claims can be made at the Campus Public Safety office.
  • Students using their bikes during the summer must move their bikes to the nearest rack of their summer housing.
  • Bicycles not picked up from the impound lot within 60 days will be forwarded to the local charities at the discretion of the Campus Public Safety department. Junk bicycles will be recycled.

2019 Welcome Weekend information

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019

As we approach the end of the spring semester, we know it seems strange to be thinking about undergraduate student Welcome Weekend when it is still four months away! However, we want to let you know about some changes in the schedule that may affect your planning.

  • Welcome Weekend is shifting from four days to three days and will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 23-25.
  • Freshmen will move in on Friday (Aug. 23) morning.
  • Programs for parents and families will begin Friday afternoon and conclude that night (not continuing into Saturday).
  • The George Fox Late Night at Target event will be on Friday night.

There were a variety of reasons for these changes, but we believe this will serve our incoming students and families very well! Of course, our goal is always for us to show tremendous hospitality and welcome to these new members of our community. We will post the schedule on our Welcome Weekend website when it is finalized.

If you have questions about how this change will impact you or your department, please contact Stephanie St. Cyr (sstcyr@georgefox.edu) or Bill Buhrow (bbuhrow@georgefox.edu).
