The EDFL Symposium “Women and minorities in Educational Leadership” ~ July 9th and 10th

The EDFL Symposium “Women and minorities in Educational Leadership” features two days next week with Dr. Karen Longman. Her topics include: “Strengthsbased education” on Monday July 9 and her personal journey in leadership addressing the symposium themes of “models, mentors, barriers and hopes” on Tuesday July 10. Attendees are encouraged to take the StrengthsFinder instrument prior to Monday’s session. Two books that include a unique ID code for taking the StrengthsFinder instrument on the web are available for sale in the EDFL department, 206 N. Meridian Street.

Dr. Longman came to Azusa Pacific University in 2006 as a professor of higher education. Prior to coming to APU Dr. Longman served for six years as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Greenville College (IL) and for 19 years as Vice President for Professional Development and Research at the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, based in Washington, D.C. She continues to serve as a Senior Fellow with the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities and has coordinated Leadership Development Institutes for emerging leaders within the CCCU since 1998.

The symposium schedule each day starts with an informal lunch by either going through the cafeteria at 11:45 or brown-bag, with the speaker making their presentation from 12 to 12:55 pm. After a short break there is a question and answer period from 1 to 2 pm.
