Interested in politics? Do you have opinions on income inequality, immigration and legislating morality? Have you wondered about the future of the political right post 2016? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, join us Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16, for a free weekend of conversation, debate, professional development and delicious food.
At The Future of Libertarianism and Conservatism Conference, seven thoughtful libertarians and conservatives from around the nation will address these three major policy areas and the future of the political right. Students will be invited to ask questions, discuss presentations and debate these issues with speakers and with each other. The conference will conclude with representatives from four major conservative and libertarian organizations describing programs, internships and scholarships they offer that can help college students jumpstart their careers.
You do NOT have to be a conservative or libertarian to come to this event, and students and employees from all backgrounds and perspectives are welcome. We invite participants to enter into a robust but polite dialogue about these important issues as we look to the future.

Did you know that, as a George Fox employee, you are responsible for protecting student records under a federal law known as FERPA?
Wondering what that means for you? Then take advantage of our new FERPA training.
You can complete the training individually through a powerpoint presentation, though we also recommend you participate in one of our in-person trainings as well.
In-person trainings will be available:
- On the Newberg campus on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. in Canyon Commons (CCD 101)
- At the Portland Center on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m. in PDS 155
Please sign up here so we can save you a seat.
Even if you have worked here a long time and know what FERPA is, we recommend all employees complete the in-person training or review the presentation on their own. It is a complex law!
Our FERPA motto: When in doubt, don’t give it out! Contact the registrar’s office.

The Office of Spiritual Life is taking a love offering for Friendswood Friends Church in Houston, Texas. Friendswood Friends is a member of the Evangelical Friends Church-Mid America Yearly Meeting. The town of Friendswood was significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and the church is working to address the many needs in the community.
In chapel this past week, we collected money from students to send along, and we want to extend to staff and faculty the same opportunity to join our students in blessing the church in their relief efforts. Please bring your cash donation to the Office of Spiritual Life by Sept. 12. Because this is a love offering, these donations are not tax-deductible.

Please begin parking immediately in the areas where your parking permit allows, as ticketing has already begun! Vehicles with Austin and Morse permits can park only in those two lots. Resident East, Resident West, Graduate and Commuter parking areas are very street and lot specific, so be sure to look at your parking brochure and keep it in your car so you will know where else to go in case your first choice is not available.
All registered vehicles must have either a parking permit affixed on the exterior of the rear of the vehicle (preferably the lower-left corner of the rear window) or a temporary permit on the dashboard. If your permit and parking brochure haven’t arrived yet, please check out the parking brochure on the security web pages or come to the security office to see one.
Questions? Contact Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.

We are looking for a child actor between the ages of 4 and 11 years old for a student short film (the younger the better, boy or girl). It’s a really fun, spunky film about a child trying to keep the leaves from falling off the trees.
Email, text or call Gina Dodds at 503-881-3221 if you have any interest! We’ll be shooting the film in late September and early October, so we’d love to hear from you as soon as possible!
