The Intercultural Resource Center is hosting the second annual Voices Conference at George Fox on Oct. 20-21! This multicultural leadership conference is open to people from all backgrounds and cultures. Our vision is to create space for students, faculty, staff and community members to engage in meaningful conversations about being multicultural leaders in an increasingly diverse society.
We will feature keynote speaker Leroy Barber, who will join other nationally renowned speakers in leading workshops and discussions regarding social justice, leadership and diversity. You can register here. For more information about specific times and locations, check out our event page.

A few weeks ago Marketing Communications migrated www.georgefox.edu (not athletics.georgefox.edu, blogs.georgefox.edu, etc.) from using the insecure HTTP protocol (e.g. http://www.georgefox.edu/) to the secure HTTPS protocol (e.g. https://www.georgefox.edu).
Now we need to update links to www.georgefox.edu in our emails and other materials.
This just requires adding an “s” to the protocol to make this change (e.g. http://www.georgefox.edu/ -> https://www.georgefox.edu/).
This change needs to be made in all digital media that links to www.georgefox.edu: emails, email signatures, saved text to be pasted into emails, PDFs, links on other websites (not links *on* www.georgefox.edu), etc.
In print materials, it’s still fine to use URLs that do not include the protocol (e.g. georgefox.edu/visit).
Please take a moment to update links to www.georgefox.edu in any digital media you manage.

George Fox alumni, current students and employees are invited to hear from business industry expert Mike Van Wyk on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. in Portland Center’s Room 155.
Mike has more than 20 years of consumer research and brand-building experience at large companies like Proctor Gamble and currently is the VP of customer research and insights for Capital Group. He will speak on the topic of purpose-driven brand building. A Q&A session will follow.

You will be responsible for overseeing the publication of two issues over the school year as well as a small team of editors to assist in the creation process. No formal experience is required!

Every year, George Fox sends students all over the world to study for a semester. Jared and Samantha Friesen, team leaders who work for the nonprofit organization PornScar, are coming to campus tomorrow (Thursday) to share their testimonies and to speak about how pornography proves to be harmful in many ways.
Jared and Samantha are married and have both struggled with addictions to pornography. They long to reach out and inform people about pornography and help those who struggle with an addiction to it. The goal of PornScar is to “Get Free, Stay Free & Free Others.†Also, our guests will share how pornography fuels sex-trafficking. So come and learn all about it!

Today (Wednesday), starting at 8:30 a.m., Plant Services will be testing the smoke detector/elevator interface in all buildings with elevators on campus. The horn/strobes for the fire system will be disconnected but there will be some beeping from the main panels. During the test, the elevator in that building will be non-operational, so occupants will need to wait or use the stairs. The test duration for each building will vary depending on the complexity of the fire system but should be about 30 to 60 minutes on average. It could take longer if we encounter a malfunction.
These tests are required by the State of Oregon and are based on a deadline, so we apologize for any inconvenience. If you know of any individual or event that would prohibit this testing, please let the Plant Services office know at ext. 2010 and we will make every effort to make accommodations.

Come get your Fall Fest ticket! Fall Fest will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 13, at Heiser Farms.
Only 500 tickets will be sold: 200 will have the option to ride on one of the buses; 300 will have the option to drive. Tickets are only $2 and include entrance into the Fest, a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, and the corn maze!
Tickets will be sold Wednesday and Friday in Cannon Commons and Thursday outside the ASC office, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. The farm is located at 21425 S.E. Grand Island Loop, in Dayton.

Still need a job? The custodial department still has openings across campus doing a variety of tasks, including bathrooms, classrooms, offices, lobbies and dorms. You must be able to work two hours every day Monday through Friday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in most of the positions.
The hourly wage is $10.25. You will receive individual training from your supervisor for your particular assigned area.
If interested, visit this “Placement Questionnaire†page on the university website. Fill out the form and provide as much information as possible, indicating any preference of your work schedule, assigned work area and/or supervisor. Print it off and either mail or deliver it to Plant Services at Box #6446 with a completed Student Application.
Copies of the Placement Questionnaire are also available at Plant Services. After we have reviewed your information and have assigned you to a specific area, you will be notified to come to Plant Services to sign an offer letter and complete any additional paperwork in order to start working.
