Course sizes are limited, and sections fill up quickly. Make an appointment to talk to your CAP coach or academic advisor about how to use these courses to stay caught up and progress toward graduation.

In honor of Black History Month, the Intercultural Life Office is partnering with the Black Student Union to put on Koinonia this Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in Canyon Commons.
This month our discussion topic is “Our Roots Run Deep.” We will spend some time unpacking the importance of knowing one’s history and how this can shape one’s future.

Are you interested in going whitewater rafting on the Clackamas River?
Join us on March 9 or 16 as we gear up for a fun day on the river with YD Adventures. The trip cost is $20 plus travel expenses, which will be determined by the total number of people going ($5-$10). Sign up through IMLeagues.com.Â
This will be an all-day outing, so participants will need to pack a lunch and bring a change of clothes. Wetsuits and other river gear will be provided by YD Adventures.

The Intercultural Resource Center is looking for students who are interested in being LEAD mentors for the 2019-20 academic school year.
The Lead, Engage, Achieve, Develop (LEAD) Mentorship Program matches first-year students of color with upper-level student mentors and helps new students find a sense of belonging and community on campus. Mentors are volunteers that have the opportunity to walk alongside a first-year student to discuss anything ranging from class to larger-life questions.

Katie Sol is now associate director of employee empowerment, responsible for compensation, classification and payroll; Beth Hampton is now a student employment specialist, responsible for student employment and payroll; Kasondra Silva is now a benefits and systems administrator, responsible for employee benefits and HR systems; and Kara Holcombe is a recruiting and training manager, responsible for employee recruitment, onboarding and training. The works of Beethoven and Chopin will be performed on the George Fox stage when Bösendorfer Educational Artist Kenn Willson presents his “Encounters with Beethoven and Chopin†concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Bauman Auditorium.
Students and employees are entitled to one complimentary ticket. Additional tickets may be purchased for $12 (general admission), $8 (seniors and alumni) and $6 (students and children under 12). They may be purchased online at this link or by calling the school’s box office at 503-554-3844.
Willson will perform Beethoven’s Ecossaises Dances, German Dance #1, Sonata Op. 31 #3, Movement 2 (Scherzo), Sonata Op. 27 #2 (“Moonlightâ€) and Ode to Joy. His Chopin repertoire includes Prelude Op. 28 #4, Prelude Op. 28 #6, and Ballade, Op. 47.

Peggy began her tenure at Portland General Electric in 1974 as a chemist in the company’s analytical lab and went on to manage almost every major area of the company before becoming PGE’s first female CEO in 2000. A subsidiary of ENRON at the time, Peggy guided PGE through scandal and the biggest bankruptcy in U.S. history.
