Come hear MLK scholar Scott Finnie speak tonight in Hoover 105

March 14th, 2022

How does Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s hopeful, reconciling and redemptive leadership – as exhibited in his acclaimed Letter from Birmingham Jail, written in 1963 – reverberate today?

Tonight (Tuesday), all are invited to a free special presentation, “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” presented by Scott Finnie, PhD, a King scholar and faculty member in Eastern Washington University’s Africana Education Program and Department of History since 1992. The event is set from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105.

Finnie’s visit is the keynote address of the 2022 John Woolman Peacemaking Forum. The presentation will focus on how King’s leadership changed the Civil Rights Movement and how his peacemaking principles still apply to our world today.

Preceding the talk will be a Steinfeldt Peace Scholars Symposium from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the Hoover lobby, where current upperclass students committed to peace studies will exhibit their projects.

The event is being sponsored by George Fox’s Center for Peace and Justice, which is also providing refreshments.

Come to financial aid’s ‘Help Me Hangout’ in the library tomorrow

March 14th, 2022

Did you receive our “Be Known, Be Done, May 1” email, but need help completing the items listed (FAFSA, MyGeorgeFox To-Do List, Accepting/Declining your financial aid, etc.)? Then our Financial Aid “Help Me Hangout” is for you! Join us in the Murdock Library (Room 112) tomorrow (Wednesday) from 9 a.m. to noon.

One of the major steps to ensuring you are ready for the fall of 2022 is making sure that all your financial aid is finalized and ready to go. Everyone’s financial aid process looks a little different, so we want to provide you with the steps specific to you. Each week we will be sending out a reminder email to let you know the steps you need to take to “be done” by May 1.

If you have any other financial aid questions, feel free to stop by. And don’t forget to come grab a free sticker!

Reminder: Deadline to withdraw from classes is this Sunday

March 14th, 2022

Please be aware that the last day to withdraw from a class with a “W” grade is this Sunday, March 20. If you review your mid-semester grades and think that it is in your best interest to withdraw from a class, you must do so in MyGeorgeFox by 11:59 p.m. on March 20.

Withdrawal from a class records a “W” grade on your transcript. A “W” grade does not impact your GPA. However, reducing your number of completed courses this semester may affect future semester planning.

Be sure to check in with your faculty advisor or CAP coach if you have questions.
