Come watch the Super Bowl in the Bruin Grounds this Sunday, Feb. 2! It will be a game you won’t want to miss.

Game starts at 3:30 p.m. 

Come decked out in pink as the Bruins play their “Breast Cancer Awareness Game” against PLU on Saturday, Feb. 1. 

Women’s game: 6 p.m.
Men’s game: 8 p.m.

Due to the electrical shutdown in the Bruin Den area today (Tuesday), the Bruin Den Cafe will be closing at 2 p.m. to allow the staff time to clean and prepare for the outage that will take place at 3 p.m.

In order to complete the new “Bruin Bites Cafe” in the former Executive Dining Room, Plant Services has scheduled an electrical shutdown for the Bruin Den and the Bruin Den seating area today (Tuesday) from 3 to 10 p.m.

Most of the Bruin Den electrical will be off. The Bruin Den seating area (lights and plugs) will be off. The west end of the main cafeteria lights and plugs will be off. The commons Internet feed will be disconnected for a few minutes at 3 p.m. and then powered back up with temporary power for the duration of the work (3 to 10 p.m.).

We will try to get our work done as soon as possible so things can get back to normal. Thank you all very much.

The Athletic Recruiting & Marketing Group urgently needs students to fill three workstudy roles in digital media, sports journalism and event planning.

The student filling the digital media role will be responsible for crafting a proactive social media content calendar for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This student will also photograph athletes, conduct interviews with athletes/coaches, and design promotional content that can be used in marketing efforts.

The student doing sports journalism will be responsible for crafting proactive stories (separate from game-centric stories) that add color to the Bruin athletics brand and give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the teams, players and coaches they love to cheer for.

The student working on event planning will help plan the events surrounding the launch of football next year, including the game-day experience, tailgating, corporate sponsorships as well as fan-experience programs for other sports teams.

The game will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30!

Some of the region’s top young artists will have their work on display in the Lindgren Gallery Jan. 28 through Feb. 24, when the university hosts its 22nd annual High School Art Northwest exhibit.

The event begins with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the gallery. Approximately 40 to 45 pieces have been selected as part of the show, with cash prizes awarded to juror-selected students based on the excellence of their art.

In addition to traditional mediums, such as paintings, ceramics and mixed media, the exhibit has expanded its scope over the years to include digital art and three-dimensional art. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no fee to view the exhibit.

The annual juried exhibit features art from high school students in Oregon and Washington. High schools to be represented include Oregon Episcopal School, Lakeridge High School, Newberg High School, Lake Washington High School, St. Mary’s Academy, Wilsonville High School, West Linn High School and St. George’s School.

Prize winners will be announced at the opening. The jurors for this year’s show are art professors Doug Campbell and Gary Buhler.

Gary Tandy, professor of English, and Jane Scott, public services librarian, will lead the session, scheduled from 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. in EHS 125. Encourage your students to attend.
