Info on phone system transition

September 21st, 2016

We are in the beginning phases of a university-wide phone upgrade. During this transition, some of the caller ID on your phone display will look different than usual. This may make it difficult to differentiate between internal and external calls.

To be safe, please answer all calls as if they were an external call. We appreciate your patience and welcome your questions! You can direct questions to Barbi Doran at bdoran@georgefox.edu.

All invited to Bruins LEAD leadership workshop tonight

September 21st, 2016

You are invited to attend and help spread the word about a six-week leadership workshop that is being hosted by athletics. You don’t have to be an athlete or coach to be part of Bruins LEAD. It is simply an opportunity to develop your leadership skills.

We will take basic leadership concepts and spend one hour diving into details of how to develop responsible and respected leaders.

Each week, you will get to hear from one of our coaches on the following topics:

Sept. 22 – Marty Hunter on “Confidence and Composure”
Sept. 29 – Maco Hamilton on “How to Conduct Yourself With Class and Servant Leadership”
Oct. 13 – Mike Meek on “How to Inspire Your Team and How to Build Winning Team Chemistry”
Oct. 20 – Branden Thompson on “How to Get Your Teammates Back on Track”
Oct. 27 – Jessica Hollen on “How to Manage Team Conflict”

All sessions take place from 8:40 p.m. to 9:40 p.m. in Lemmons 8.

While some of the content may be specific to athletics and teams, we feel strongly that every person will end up working in a team at some point in their lives, and this information can be relevant for everyone on campus.

Tonight will be our second session. Even if you were unable to attend our first session, we would love to see you there!

Probably most important … there will be snacks!

It’s a friendly, fast-paced environment treating some of the nicest students in the country. Particularly for the NP/PA position, even if the individual is currently employed, we would greatly appreciate you bringing this position to their attention and forwarding their contact information to Bill Buhrow (bbuhrow@georgefox.edu) so we can follow up to see if they have any interest.

More info on both positions can be found at this link, or they can contact Bill at 503-554-2340. Thanks for helping us locate the right person for this pivotal position.

Serve Day: Seeking Employees’ Feedback

September 20th, 2016

Thank you for the time and energy many of you invested in Serve Day last Wednesday. You painted fences and walls, cleared brush, cleaned wheelchairs, organized classroom supplies … it was a great team effort, and it was for the “Good of our Neighbors!”

Since last Wednesday we have received a number of notes from community members that were touched by your work. Though Serve Day isn’t exactly about the “thanks,” it is good to know your efforts and sacrifices have been kindly received. We’re attaching a short video that tells a few of these stories.

This year, more than 2,000 people were involved in Serve Day in various ways. We know that this means that more than 2,000 people saw different sides of Serve Day; we are eager to learn about these experiences. If you have any feedback you’d like to share regarding Serve Day, we’d be happy to receive it. Please use this form to offer that feedback.

Thank you!
