Soccer camp for kids raises money for Special Olympics

Hello! We are holding a soccer camp to raise money for the Special Olympics. It will be for ages 4-13 and take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at the Austin Sports Complex.

There is a $10 fee to register, and no experience needed. All money received will be donated. If you’re unable to participate but still want to donate, please contact Ashley Foster at afoster20@georgefox.edu or 916-895-1310.

  • All other requests received after Nov. 17 will be included in our regularly scheduled check run on Dec. 1.

Join the university’s Christmas celebration on Dec. 1

Are you in the holiday spirit? Then you won’t want to miss the university’s Christmas celebration event on the Newberg campus on Thursday, Dec. 1!

You are invited to gather for cookies, coffee and cider in the Stevens Center atrium at 4 p.m. That will be followed by a tree-lighting ceremony, carols, and a devotional in the same location at 4:30 p.m.

Then, from 5 to 8 p.m., we’ll have carriage rides in the quad, a Christmas photo booth, a roaming Santa, choir and ensemble caroling, a petting zoo, and ornament decorating.

As for treats, we’ll be serving gourmet s’mores and hot cocoa (1927 S’mores Company), seasonal popcorn (Miss Hannah’s Popcorn) and apple cider, coffee, and cookies (compliments of Bon Appetit).

So, dress up in your favorite Christmas costume or sweater (there will be an incentive to do so) and join us!

Multi-factor authentication now required for students

As of today (Monday), all students will be required to use multi-factor authentication to sign in to university resources through single sign-on (email, Canvas, MyGeorgeFox, Zoom, etc.) at login.georgefox.edu.

All students are to opt-in to multi-factor authentication by following these instructions. We encourage everyone to set up more than one option. This will ensure that you have more than one way to sign in.

More free COVID vaccine clinics will be held next week

More COVID-19 Bivalent (Pfizer) booster vaccination clinics are here!

The clinics will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. and Friday, Nov. 18, from 9 to noon. at the Health and Counseling Center on the Newberg campus (located on River Street). The vaccines are free of charge.

Please arrive five minutes early to your appointment and bring your COVID card with you. We will see you there!

Submit your Richter proposals before Wednesday, Nov. 23

The Richter Scholars program is accepting a second round of proposals which will be due Wednesday, Nov. 23.

The Richter Scholars program distributes funds to support student research activities that are devised, initiated and carried out by individual student researchers, with mentorship, guidance and expertise provided by a faculty mentor.

The purpose of these funds is to support educational research opportunities that encourage the practices of independent thought leading to independent achievement and personal responsibility.

For the purpose of this program, research is defined as a knowledge-generating activity that is designed to provide new information on a topic, tool, or process, and that proceeds according to established and accepted research methods.

Before preparing a proposal, please read through the full proposal guidelines, eligibility requirements, and review criteria here. 

*Faculty mentors: Please note that several important proposal elements and eligibility requirements have been recently updated. Please thoroughly read through all posted documentation as you work with your student mentee to prepare a proposal.

All submittals will be electronic and are due Wednesday, Nov. 23.

MyGeorgeFox is moving to Single Sign On

Tomorrow (Tuesday), MyGeorgeFox will start using login.georgefox.edu, the university’s Single Sign On (SSO) system, for authentication.

This will bring MyGeorgeFox into the familiar login process used by other George Fox applications (e.g. Canvas, Zoom, Gmail). It also means if you are already logged in through SSO, you will be automatically logged in to MyGeorgeFox.
