The university community is invited to a memorial service for former faculty member R. Dale Orkney on Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m. in Lemmons 8. A reception will follow in the EHS atrium.
Orkney began at George Fox in 1963 and for 40 years helped direct the school’s science program. He was granted faculty emeritus in 1998.

The importance of being ethical in the business world will be discussed at a special George Fox-hosted lecture presented by Jeff Grubb, a former vice president at Wells Fargo, tomorrow (Thursday). Grubb’s free presentation, “A Christian in the Business World: Ethical Decisions in Challenging Times,†begins at 7 p.m. in Hoover 105.
Grubb has been a trustee at the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust since 2010. He retired from corporate life in 2017 after 35 years in financial services working for Progressive Insurance, U.S. Bank, U.S. Trust and Wells Fargo. He has also served on the advisory board of several private companies.
The lecture is being presented by George Fox’s Office of the President and College of Business. It is the latest installment of the university’s Reiten Lecture Executive in Residence Series.

The Portland Writing Center is seeking a new writing consultant who is enthusiastic about helping fellow graduate and adult degree students understand the components of effective writing. Portland Writing Center consultants are current degree-completion and graduate students who work four to eight hours per week meeting with students in face-to-face or online sessions at the Portland Writing Center.
Writing consultant duties include helping students with the following: (1) thinking through ideas for a writing assignment; (2) considering writing choices with regard to audience, focus, purpose, cohesion, and organization; (3) developing ideas with specific evidence; (4) improving research strategies; (5) applying proper documentation and formatting; and (6) understanding basic grammar and mechanics.

- Prizes: There will be a random drawing for a Fitbit, two free staff lunches and water bottles.
- How drawing entries are earned: One per week participated, one per weekly challenge completed, one per 25 points earned, one per wellness event hosted and posted on the Facebook page. And, “Challenge Part 1” participants get entries for the weeks they participated.

To manage existing maintenance needs and projects, Plant Services is requiring all office relocation requests for the summer months to be made according to the following deadlines:
- By March 30 for May and June moves
- By April 27 for July and August moves
Any requests made after these dates for moves in those respective months will be considered and approved based on current schedules and staff availability.
