Over the last year, the university has moved to a new Cisco phone system. Please refer to this documentation for operating your new phone. The guide includes instruction on voicemail, transferring, call forwarding and conference calling.
Some general highlights:
- You now need to dial “8” to get an outside line.
- Long-distance codes are no longer needed except for international dialing.
- Voicemail is now sent to your email as an audio recording.
- Fax machines are still in transition and will continue to require “9” for an outside line and a long-distance code. As machines are converted over, a sign will be placed on the machine with instructions.
Please email questions to servicedesk@georgefox.edu or call us at 503-554-2569.

Former George Fox student Willie Stoffer passed away Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
A source of inspiration for the Bruin football team, Willie got one last chance Saturday to spend time with the team he loved. In his blog, President Baker recalls the touching moment as Willie was prayed over and encouraged by both teams before the game. You can read it here.

Employee Empowerment orientation for all new employees
Beginning in November, newly hired employees will attend a new hire orientation with the director of employee relations. When an offer is accepted by a new hire, Employee Empowerment will schedule that employee for the next available orientation within three days of his or her start date. During orientation, employees will complete their new hire employment documents and receive an overview about being an employee at George Fox. Benefits-eligible employees will stay and receive a full benefits orientation as well. To ensure a new employee has a great first impression, other items that supervisors and coworkers will want to prepare for would include providing a new employee training plan, preparing a welcoming work space and scheduling a campus tour.
Changes to hiring process
In order provide better service to our employees and to ensure that we comply with federal and state employment laws, Employee Empowerment is implementing a new and improved hiring process. Work related agreements must be entered into by utilizing the Approval to Recruit process. If hiring managers desire to enter into a work-related agreement with any person (including current employees) without utilizing the Approval to Recruit process, they must first contact Employee Empowerment for guidance and pre-approval to hire. Check requests will no longer be accepted as hiring documentation. Thank you for your commitment to this critical matter.
We are here to help, so please contact Employee Empowerment with any hiring related questions.
