Single sign-on for Gmail and FoxTALE coming Friday

Tuesday, August 13th, 2019

IT is excited to announce a new single sign-on (SSO) process for George Fox systems. We have replaced our current SSO provider, and this Friday, Aug. 16, Gmail and FoxTALE will be included in this change.

This new process will allow you to use more apps by only logging into a system once.

New ID cards now available for employees

Tuesday, August 13th, 2019

Over the summer, the university transitioned from our former ID card system, which used a magnetic stripe, to a proximity card system that lets an individual tap the card on a reader instead of swiping.

Due to this change, we have printed a new card for every employee at George Fox University and, pending the status of our new proximity-reader installations, you may find that you are not able to get into the buildings you need without it.

If you haven’t already received your new card, your administrative assistant may have it for you. If not, there are a few other opportunities to pick up your new card:

  • Faculty meeting on Aug. 16: New cards will be with name tags at check-in.
  • All-community meeting on Aug. 19: We will have a table you can stop by to grab your card
  • Stop by the Service Desk in the Stevens Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Please note: You will need to turn in your old card in order to pick up your new one. Please bring this with you. Your new card should have all the same permissions activated that your old one did.

Thank you for working with us as we continue our efforts to make campus life easier!

Call for stationery orders

Monday, August 12th, 2019

Now is the time to order university stationery. The collective order helps keep costs low – the higher the volume, the lower the cost. Consequently, it is most economical to overestimate needs and store a small surplus.

I will be accepting orders through Friday, Aug. 23. For order instructions, go to the marketing communications website. Continue to purchase all non-departmental stationery (including “second-sheet letterhead”) through the university’s Office of Mail Services.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,
– Jamison Loop (jloop@georgefox.edu)

Please take a moment to share the gift of words with our employees who are celebrating a “years of service” milestone. Feel free to thank them or share a favorite memory by adding a comment under their name on this form.

Volunteers needed to help honor coworkers at all-community meeting

We in HR are looking for volunteers to help us with the presentation at the meeting. Each volunteer will speak for two to three minutes and honor a group celebrating a milestone by reminiscing about the year they were hired (don’t worry, we will help you out with content).

If you are able to help, please contact Nichole Drew at ndrew@georgefox.edu to volunteer.

Student Accounts statements have changed

Wednesday, August 7th, 2019

On Wednesday, Student Accounts mailed a bill to each student with a balance due. This new statement has a very different look and feel.

Change can be hard, even when it is positive change, so to assist with questions that may arise we have a web page designed to answer anticipated questions. If you would like to see what the new bill looks like or if you are helping someone with their bill, go to sa.georgefox.edu and choose “FAQ,” or you can search the George Fox website for “Student Accounts FAQ.”

Tuesday, August 6th, 2019

In following up from the all-employee meeting on July 25, we want to remind you that George Fox is changing its single sign-on process today, Aug. 7.

All current systems using single sign-on (ie. Library services, StarRez, Handshake, Slate, etc.) will be directed to a new login page. On Aug. 16, we will also add Gmail and FoxTALE.

Please note: The first time you log in you will be asked to enter a secondary email as well as choose security questions and an image. This is to confirm your account going forward; after entering this information in once, you will not need to do it again.
