Dinner hours will change slightly this Friday, Oct. 24, due to Family Weekend events. Come join us in the Klages Dining Room for a “Taste of George Fox” from 5 to 7 p.m. We will be featuring several expo stations as well as a delicious turkey dinner and a variety of house-made desserts.

Get informed on what it takes to get into a professional health program. The topics covered will include admission requirements, the application process and resources available to you at George Fox.

Blood drive returns to campus tomorrow

The blood drive is back on campus from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). To schedule an appointment, go to redcrossblood.org. Sign in if you have a Red Cross account or register to create one.

You can find the George Fox blood drive using the ZIP code 97132 or sponsor code “GeorgeFox.” Click to schedule an appointment with either of the George Fox drives. We will have the blood drive bus and also host the drive in VAC 117.

International Justice Mission meeting is tonight

She is the author of Disunity in Christ: Uncovering the Hidden Forces that Keep Us Apart, a Leadership Journal Book Award winner. Naval shipyard career information meetings are today

Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF), the largest industrial employer in the state of Hawaii with nearly 5,000 civilian and military employees, is in the business of repairing and modernizing naval ships and submarines. Ronald Kim will give a presentation about Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard‘s internship and employment opportunities from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in EHS 102 Tuesday (today). He will be accepting resumes after his presentation.

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) is focused on providing customers with quality, timely and cost-efficient maintenance, modernization, and technical and logistics support. PSNS & IMF has sites in Bremerton, Bangor, Everett, San Diego, Boston, Japan and wherever its workers go to fix ships. Marisa Eyon, a George Fox alumni, will give a presentation about Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in EHS 102 on Tuesday (today). Candidates may be invited to an interview on Wednesday.

Join us Thursday for Symposium: A Forum for Uncommon Conversations

All George Fox students and employees are welcome to attend the student life discussion series, Symposium: A Forum for Uncommon Conversations. The series will run three weeks in a row, starting on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 10:50 to 11:40 a.m. in EHS 102.

Our first topic will be “Convicted Civility: Pursuing Christ in Our Conversations,” and will feature panelists Ron Mock, Terry Steele, Sarita Gallagher, Jamie Noling-Auth and Michael Harris. The discussion Thursday will explore the question, “What does it mean to be a person with strong convictions, while also honoring and respecting others who might not agree with you?” Bring a friend and come join in the discussion!

Elective chapel credit is available.

Second ‘Earth, Wind, Fire and Water’ lecture presented Thursday

Make plans to attend the College of Engineering’s “Earth, Wind, Fire and Water” series, a five-part set of lectures this fall that tackle the topics of renewable energy, sustainability, climate change and the environment. The second installment of the series will be presented this Thursday, Oct. 23, when J.J. Arthur of NuScale Power speaks on “Small-Scale Nuclear Power Systems” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Hoover 105.

Winter Serve trip costs cut in half

Spending a week with Winter Serve in Portland, Puyallup or Twin Rocks for a week in January now only costs $50! This includes transportation, lodging and food for the week! It’s a fantastic deal. The price of the trip to Oklahoma is staying at $200.

Play ‘First Lady Lou’ takes stage Nov. 14-15

The Hoover-Minthorn Museum in Newberg invites the university community to a presentation of the play First Lady Lou, which offers a glimpse into the life of Lou Henry Hoover, wife of Herbert Hoover. The play is being stage-managed by George Fox student Cydney Thompson.

The show will be performed at Newberg Friends Church, 307 S. College St., on Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15. The Friday show begins at 7:30 p.m. and the Saturday production is a matinee, scheduled for 2 p.m. The play was written by Rebecca Christian and features award-winning Portland actress and director Jane Fellows in the lead.
