What happens to my mail and packages over Christmas break?

Mail Services will distribute your mail to your campus mailbox during the Christmas break, and it will be waiting for you when you come back in January.

Your packages will be stored at University Mail Services until you come back to campus and will be available for pick-up when you return. No packages will be returned over the Christmas break.

Come and check the lost and found

The lost and found is filled to the brim and all items not reunited with their owners will be donated to charitable causes on Monday, Dec. 15.

Please come to the security office between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays to see if your lost item has been turned in, or email Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu with a description of your lost item.

Meal Plan Selection for Spring 2015 Semester

Students who are eligible to make changes to their meal plan will be able to do so starting Jan. 5, 2015, through Jan. 23, 2015.

After Jan. 5, 2015, log into your MyGFU account, look in University Forms and then Meal Plan Form.

If you have any questions about the meal plans, please contact Jere Witherspoon in the Office of Student Life. You may also phone her at 503-554-2316. The student life office is on the third floor of the Stevens Center.

Chapel credits are due

This is the final week to earn chapel credits for the semester. Chapel credits are due this Friday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. To check your remaining chapel credits, please check your MyGFU.

George Fox students gather to stand in solidarity Tuesday

You are invited to stand in support of our black students at George Fox and the black community across our nation. Concerned students and the Office of Intercultural Life are organizing a demonstration on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in light of the shooting deaths of an unarmed black teen, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Mo., and numerous other black men and boys around the country. Meet on the Centennial Tower lawn in front of the Student Union Building from 1 to 2 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are invited to wear black on Tuesday in solidarity.

Those who wish to better understand why the situation in Ferguson is so hurtful to the black community and how we can pursue racial reconciliation are encouraged to contact Donna Barber, director of intercultural life, or Rebecca Hernandez, associate vice president of intercultural engagement. There are also several student clubs and organizations that have much to offer in this important area.

Library extends hours final two weeks of semester

This class is open to those interested in taking violin, viola or cello lessons in a small-group setting. There is no fee in addition to the normal tuition cost.

Students will receive instruction individually as well as in small ensembles, and can join regardless of previous experience. This is a fun way to learn a new instrument or polish your technique in an individual and small ensemble setting.

VP & Chief Innovation Officer Mohan Nair speaks Dec. 6

The College of Business invites the university community to a presentation by Mohan Nair, VP and chief innovation officer of Cambia Health Solutions, on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Hoover 105.

Nair is the keynote speaker for the College of Business’ semi-annual Transformational Leadership Symposium. The topic of the symposium is “Transform You, Transform Business.” Nair will share inspirational leadership strategies that bring about personal and professional growth and transformation.
