Student filmmakers showcase their work tonight at Fox Doc Fest

The documentary production class invites you to attend the third Fox Doc Fest today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in Lemmons 8. The screening will feature selected films produced over the course of two semesters. Student filmmakers will be present and awards will be given, including an audience choice award.

Contemplative Worship time set for this morning

Spring Formal is this Sunday

Spring Formal is Sunday, April 26, at Montgomery Park Atrium in Portland! Join us at 8 p.m. for a night filled with dancing, refreshments, and fun. A henna artist and a live camel named Shawn will be at the dance!

Ticket sales will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday in the Bruin Den, outside the ASC offices. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for non-students, and $7 for students at the door. Free parking will be available in the West lots.

Seminary’s Woodley speaks at Chehalem Cultural Center April 28

George Fox Evangelical Seminary’s Randy Woodley, distinguished professor of faith and culture, will present “Many Nations, One River: Exploring the History of Settlement in Oregon’s Willamette Valley through a Socio-cultural Lens (1812-1842)” as part of the Newberg Historical Society’s “The Native American Experience” series.

All are welcome to attend free of charge. The presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Chehalem Cultural Center, located at 415 E. Sheridan St., in Newberg.

May Term/Summer housing applications due Thursday

If you are interested in May Term or summer housing, please submit an application online to the student life office by Thursday, April 23.

To be considered for on-campus housing during this time, students need to meet one of the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in May Term classes
  • Working full time (40 hours per week) for the university as a summer employee
  • International summer student program participant
  • Participating in research as a summer research scholar

Work of senior artists now on display in university’s galleries

The work of senior studio art majors Alyssa Andrews (“Foundations”), Kirsten Cooner (“Healing/Whole”) and Lanea Scheeler (“Why Not Me”) is currently up in the Minthorne Gallery on campus.

Meanwhile, in the Lindgren Gallery, the work of senior artists Keilah Uhre, Daniel Scharton and Annelise Koeth is on display. The name of their exhibit is “Reconcile.”

The seniors’ thesis artwork will be up through commencement on Saturday, May 2. Swing by the galleries to see their work!

This Friday, April 24, the university community is invited to the music department’s annual Spring Concert, featuring performances by the university’s Symphonic Band, Concert Choir and Orchestra, and Women’s Chorale. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium.

The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Pat Vandehey, will perform Angels in the Architecture by Frank Tichelli and Sojourn of Dreams by Kevin Walczyk. The Chehalem Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Travis Hatton, will perform a selection from the George Fox Concerto Competition. Finally, the Concert Choir and Women’s Chorale, under the direction of Loren Wenz, will join forces to present Vesperae Solennes De Confessore by Mozart.
