Be mindful of construction when moving about campus

Sunday, June 7th, 2015

Fencing is now up around the construction site for the new dining hall. Students and staff will find that the fencing disturbs the typical north/south campus pedestrian flow, and that pedestrians now need to go around the east side of the Villa Academic Complex in order to move up and down the east side of campus.

Additionally, there are gates on both ends of the job site; these are for construction personnel with protective equipment to enter only. Please join us in helping ensure the job site is safe and secure.

Students encouraged to participate in Global Leadership Summit

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015

Once again, the Global Leadership Summit, a national program designed to help students embrace the leadership roles that God has called them to, is taking place Aug. 6-7. And although George Fox isn’t serving as a sponsor this year, students are still encouraged to participate. More information is available at willowcreek.com/summit.

The influence and impact of the church is felt most fully when everyone who’s part of a church is fully living out the life God has called them to live. This includes leaders from business, education, nonprofits and ministry. The Global Leadership Summit is designed to fuel students’ passions and sharpen their leadership skills.

Roommate wanted

Monday, June 1st, 2015

I’m looking for a roommate for this upcoming school year. I have found a place to live that has very affordable rent, but I would still like a roommate. Rent cut in half is very cheap and it’s a really nice place. It is only three blocks from campus located behind the cultural center. If you have any questions, big or small, please email me.

Play ‘First Lady Lou’ takes Wood-Mar stage on June 19

Sunday, May 31st, 2015

The campus community is invited to a presentation of the play First Lady Lou, a one-woman dramatization of the life of Lou Hoover, wife of President Herbert Hoover, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, in Wood-Mar Auditorium.

The play features professional actress Jane Fellows in the title role. Tickets, available at the door, are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and university employees, and $5 for students.

Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States, attended the precursor to George Fox, Friends Pacific Academy, in the 1880s.

The presentation is among the events planned during the Friends Association for Higher Education Conference, scheduled on the George Fox campus Thursday through Sunday, June 18-21. The event will draw Friends educators from colleges, universities and study centers from around the world.

More information on the conference and/or play is available by visiting quakerfahe.com or writing Paul Anderson at panderso@georgefox.edu.
