Don’t forget to support Bruins at tonight’s basketball games

Thursday, January 26th, 2017

The Bruin basketball teams face the University of Puget Sound tonight (Friday) at 6 and 8 p.m. in two games with big playoff implications. Our women’s basketball team hopes to avenge a one-point loss earlier this season against an undefeated Loggers team. Our men’s team is in the hunt for a Northwest Conference tournament berth!

Here’s what’s in store for Friday:

  • It’s our Pink Zone and “Coaches vs. Cancer” night, which means lots of activities in store.
  • It’s going to be a Silent Night: Everyone in the stands will be silent until the Bruins score their 10th point. As soon as that happens, True Blue pandemonium will erupt!
  • During halftime of the 6 p.m. women’s game, some of our football players will face off against our Bruin coaches on the basketball court in a five-minute scrimmage. During the men’s halftime, we’ll honor our senior women athletes.
  • Lots of raffles and freebies in store, too. And don’t forget to bring $1 to enter the half-court shot for a chance to win $250.

You can learn more here. Don’t miss all the fun!

Thursday, January 26th, 2017

If you have not done so already, it is time for students to indicate via their “Student Service Center” that they want to access their 1098T Tuition Tax Statement online. Making this selection will give you 24-hour access to a PDF of your tax form as soon as it is ready! From there it can be easily printed, emailed or saved.

Please be aware that if you “Grant Consent” a printed copy will no longer be mailed to you. If you want to file your taxes quickly, have moved or are concerned about mail safely reaching you, we strongly recommend this option. Free academic coaching and support available to students

Thursday, January 26th, 2017

Could you use help managing your schedule, staying on top of assignments, or simply navigating college? Contact the ARC to set up academic coaching.

Academic coaching involves regular meetings for support and accountability. A student meets regularly – usually 25 to 50 minutes a week – with an ARC Consultant or Academic Success Coach to review syllabi, discuss weekly and semester schedules, and talk through strategies for success.

Meetings might include time on a class FoxTALE site to ensure the student is aware of assignments that are due, or the Academic Coach might work with the student to determine how to take effective notes and then how to use them. A weekly check-in enables a student to look at the big picture of all that is on one’s plate – multiple classes, work, relationships, other involvements, etc. Coaches build supportive relationships with students as they work together to develop strategies for personal and academic success.

To schedule academic coaching, email the_arc@georgefox.edu. Contact Heather Harney (hharney@georgefox.edu) if you have questions.
