Legacy students are students who have at least one parent or grandparent who is considered an alumni of an undergraduate or graduate degree program at George Fox University.

In order to thank these students and their families for their continued commitment to George Fox, we will present graduating legacy students with a legacy stole that may be worn during spring commencement to display their family legacy. There is no cost for the legacy stole; the stole is our way of recognizing families that have shown a long-term dedication to George Fox.

The Pre-Physical Therapy Club will be host a meeting tonight (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. in Lemmons 12. Cristina Schmitt, the admissions counselor for the university’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, will give a short presentation about what you can do as an undergrad to be competitive for PT school.

Several DPT students will also be attending to answer questions and hang out. Pizza and snacks will be provided!

Please let us know if you are planning to attend so we can make sure to have enough food for everyone. Feel free to bring friends who are interested, even if they are outside the major!

The School of Physical Therapy and the president’s office would like to thank everyone who participated in last week’s first Health and Wellness Week. The week was a great success, and plans are to make this an annual event!

“Leave it all on the field!” This has been a mantra for all athletes and coaches in their competitive athletic events on the field. The question is, “What about off the field when an athlete is no longer able to compete?”

Practices, watching film, meetings with coaches, and studying stats have all helped athletes prepare for
obstacles on the field. What preparations do athletes make for off it? George Fox provides resources to athletes such as gyms, fields and specialty equipment to prepare for their sport. When it comes to preparing for a career, what resources does George Fox offer and do student-athletes utilize them?

Student-athletes, you have been asked to participate in this senior research project to help determine whether or not George Fox provides the proper resources to help student-athletes transition from sports retirement to a career life and if athletes utilize them or not.

The survey is made up of 25 required questions (marked by asterisks), four not required, and eight optional text boxes that will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

This year, we welcome guest speaker Michelle Loyd-Paige, PhD, a professor of sociology and executive associate to the president for diversity and inclusion at Calvin College. She will speak this morning on “A Bigger Hospitality,” in which she will discuss how embracing cultural differences can enrich our worship.

After chapel, students are encouraged to stop by the Peacemaking Connections Expo and check out current job and internship opportunities available with various nonprofit peacemaking and service organizations. It will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Canyon Commons 103.

Vespers info: Wednesday at 7 p.m. we will continue our series “One” with a message from Psalm 95. If you are a part of a Spring Serve trip, be sure to come tomorrow night. We will be commissioning the serve trips and the students on them during the service.

Do you have flat feet? The physical therapy program is conducting research on flat feet that looks at the affects of exercise on arch height. Participants will be asked to follow a foot exercise routine for eight weeks. There is a monetary incentive for completion of the program.

The Emerging Leaders Internship program is now taking applications from underrepresented students looking for paid summer internships! These internships vary, from business, graphic design, health services and more! The ELI program has partnered with Portland’s top companies that are currently dominating the local metro area.
