This Advent season, the Office for Spiritual Life welcomes you to enjoy The Advent Project: A collection of meditations by students at George Fox University  The collection features daily readings and Scripture meditations meant to guide participants through the four weeks of Advent leading to Christmas.
The student writers, who represent various academic majors and years in school, were nominated for this project by George Fox faculty and student life staff. As you read their words, know that it is their hope and ours that during this season of Advent, you will remember that the God who promised is faithful, and that you will find hope, peace, joy and love in the God who made his dwelling among us.
Grace and Peace to you this Advent season,
– The Office for Spiritual Life

Barclay Press and College of Christian Studies faculty Anderson Campbell and Steve Sherwood are offering free Advent readings to aid in your waiting and worship this season. Readings are excerpted from Praying for Justice (Barclay Press, 2017), a four-year lectionary of verses that address God’s call for us to turn our attention always to the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized. It is an invitation to entreat God daily to address the pain and brokenness that is all around us. But it is also an invitation to hope.
As we move toward Christmas this year, we hope these Advent selections will help you navigate the darkness as we wait for the Light. If you find this resource useful, please pass it along to others. It is our gift to you and is meant to be shared. You might also consider purchasing the full Praying for Justice lectionary through Barclay Press or wherever books are sold. It contains more than 200 weeks of daily readings from more than 1,400 biblical passages about justice.
The free Advent readings are available for download at this link.

The Office for Spiritual Life has become aware of a need in the Newberg School District with regard to the upcoming holiday break. Forty-eight percent of students in the Newberg School District participate in the free lunch program, and 168 of the students experience homelessness.
Over the winter break, these children and families will have difficulty getting the meals that they need. The spiritual life office is collecting monetary donations and gift cards to local grocery stores and restaurants to aid our neighbors during the Christmas holiday. Please direct gift cards and/or donations to the Office for Spiritual Life before Dec. 15. Thank you!
