“Be known means to be understood, valued, encouraged and uplifted. At George Fox, to be known means that professors and staff connect with students in authentic ways – personally, academically, spiritually – recognizing that we all come to this place with different backgrounds, life experiences and dreams for the future. To be known means that students not only learn new ideas, they share their own. To be known means to be heard.â€

Intercultural Life is partnering with the Black Student Union for Black History Month to put together Matheteis! Join us at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) in Canyon Commons 103.
Matheteis is a discussion forum that comes from the Greek word for disciple. Our goal is to provide space for faculty, staff/administrators and students to discuss difficult topics in a cross-disciplinary approach that leads to learning and understanding.
We invite four panelists who are given two to three prompt questions ahead of time. After panelists have an opportunity to discuss the prompt questions, audience participants can also ask questions and join the discussion.
The topic will be the issue of gentrification. We want to engage in dialogue about the effects that less affluent communities experience in the process of renovating urban areas. Come join us for good conversation, snacks, and chapel credit!
Contact Brianna Martin-Ortega (bmartinortega16@georgefox.edu) for more information.

When people think of a typical college student, they think “sleep-deprived,” “overworked” and “stretched thin.” The old stereotype of college students surviving on minute-ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches can, however, be a real problem in college.
College hunger is a nationwide problem that affects about 20 percent of college students. Some students are struggling to have enough money for food even with jobs on campus. Research also shows that college student hunger can impact students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
The student life department, in conjunction with Bon Appetit and other departments on campus, would like to understand the food needs of students at George Fox.
Please help us in determining the level of need by completing this short, confidential and anonymous survey. Note that there are also a couple local resources that are listed at the end of this survey.
Food Survey
If you would like to speak to someone about this survey, please contact Jere Witherspoon in the Office of Student Life (jwitherspoon@georgefox.edu or 503-554-2316).
