This spring, an African-American history course will give you the opportunity to read deeply into the writings and lived experiences of African-Americans.
Beyond reading, you will learn through historical-role immersive exercises that will challenge and engage participants. No pre-requisites are required, and the course is open to students at all levels.
It will be taught by Paul Otto, coauthor, with Verdis Robinson (Campus Compact), of Bacon’s Rebellion, 1676-1677: Race, Class, And Frontier Conflict In Colonial Virginia. On Feb. 10, 2020, Robinson will give a public lecture for Black History Month, “‘One Like the Sea’: Frederick Douglass’s Global Search for Democracy and Equality, 1886–1887.” He will also be meeting with students in HIST 380.

In order to eliminate confusion, Waste Management is changing the lids of recycling bins to a bright yellow to further distinguish recycling bins from trash bins. Please take your comingled recycling to a bin with a yellow lid and avoid dumping trash in the yellow-lidded bins.
In addition, if you have not already received an indoor recycling bin, our team is distributing the indoor blue recycling containers for office and dorm room use. Please use those bins for your comingled recycling and not for trash. It is very important to keep garbage out of the recycling bins.
For more recycling information, visit this webpage. Thank you for helping to conserve resources!

The season of Advent is upon us, and the Office of Spiritual Life has partnered with faculty and students to publish the 2019 Advent Project. This daily reader is designed, written and created by people in the George Fox community and is intended to point us toward Christ as we await his birth.
Feel free to share it with friends, family and your faith community. Additionally, we will be sending a video at the beginning of each week to introduce each topic (hope, peace, joy and love). We hope it is helpful to you in some form as we celebrate this season of Advent together.
