Those of you who are commuters and resident drivers are aware that parking is tight this year. We want to remind you that the Morse Lot and 99 lot are under-utilized parking options for commuters and residents.
The 99 lot is right next to Steve’s Automotive. Do not park in spaces marked off for Steve’s Automotive. The Morse Lot is near the baseball fields on the north side of campus.

Notice to Pennington permit holders: Please start utilizing the River Street parking lot. Your permit is valid for both the Pennington and River Street lots.
Part of the Penn lot will soon be closed off to parking due to construction, so please make use of the River Street option. It is located west of the Penn lot behind Stevens.

Looking for an adventure? University Recreation’s OREC program provides outdoor excursions that are open to all George Fox students. No prior outdoor experience is necessary in order to join these trips and OREC provides all of the transportation, equipment, food, and instruction.
Go here for information on what trips are being offered this semester and to register for the trip you’re interested in.
Trips this weekend include:
- Outdoor Rock Climbing at Broughton’s Bluff (Sept. 3)
- Swiftwater Kayaking on the North Santiam River (Sept. 4)
Students can also apply here for financial assistance from a new scholarship fund provided by University Recreation.

Looking to help put together the George Fox University yearbook (The Student Collective)? We are looking for experienced students to fill the positions of graphic designer, writer, and photographer/photo editor.
You would be working closely with the rest of our team from early September to the conclusion of the academic year to put together a physical representation of life at Fox. These are paid positions, however you do not have to be work-study eligible.

Auditions for the performing arts department’s fall production Oliver! The Musical are taking place Tuesday, Sept. 6.
We are looking for an energetic cast of 10 to 25 performers to play a variety of larger-than-life roles, so have fun with it! Signs-ups and audition information can be found on the Wood-Mar Auditorium door on the third floor of EHS. We hope to see you there!

When walking through campus, please use the Crisman Crossing bridge instead of the Wheeler bridge or the Wheeler access road (Amphitheater Way). All trails in the canyon leading north of the Wheeler access road will be closed until further notice.

Please keep these registration reminders in mind these next couple of weeks:
- You may add classes yourself in MyGeorgeFox through this Sunday, Sept. 4.
- You may drop classes yourself in MyGeorgeFox through Sunday, Sept. 11.
- You will be charged a $25 drop fee if you drop classes during Week 2, Sept. 5-11.
Please submit the Request Permission to Add a Class form for the following scenarios:
- Enrolling in a closed/full class
- Enrolling in a class with a missing prerequisite
- Enrolling in a class that creates a time conflict
- Enrolling in a class during Week 2 (Sept. 4-9)

FashioNXT is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s production on Oct. 8. Time magazine has called this the No. 1 fashion production outside of New York.
If you are majoring in business, marketing, art, graphic design, or tech, and you have an interest in the fashion industry, I would strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
We have had several George Fox students internship at FashioNXT in the past and truly enjoy their experience. Here are some of the opportunities to gain experience at FashioNXT:
- Multi-brand Events Production: Engage in the biggest multi-brand experiential event in the region
- Digital Marketing: Emphasis on helping execute experiential fashion marketing for FashioNXT; involved in learning and executing web analytics (organic/SEO and paid) to social media
- Advertising and Marketing: Learning and executing campaign for the biggest annual fashion show in the region; identify marketing priorities, identifying various sales funnels for each category, and connecting with them through graphics, video, and social media
- PR: Identify and execute ideal media for each sales funnel (brands and patron), and media funnels (press for participating brands); close loop through online and in person engagement
- App Development and App Marketing: Currently developing five apps in event and small business brand and talent eco-system; will continue to develop apps, as well as market the apps that completes to get market adoption

The Office for Spiritual Life is hosting Life Groups this fall (the weeks of Sept. 19 through Nov. 7). Life Groups are small groups of undergraduate students who meet together for prayer, Bible study and fellowship.
Groups meet weekly (for eight weeks) for 60 to 90 minutes. This fall, our groups will be either in person or completely via Zoom. Life Groups through the Office for Spiritual Life will also be spiritual life-credit eligible. To sign up, please fill out this form by Wednesday, Sept. 14.
In the meantime, feel free to check out our GFU SpiL Instagram posts to see descriptions of each Life Group’s theme or topic of study. Most groups will begin the week of Sept. 19. Your group leader will contact you with additional details by the Friday prior to the start of your group.

The Margaret Fell Scholars Program invites you to its “Fell Kickoff” dinner and orientation for returning students, early applicants and anyone interested in the program (both theology and non-theology majors are welcome!). We’ll meet at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Newbergundian Bistro (203 Villa Road).
