Come to an informational meeting Wednesday, January 9 at 8:30pm in Hoover 105.

All application materials are due to the Student Life Office by Friday, January 18.

Please note the following important dates as some of them have been changed:

AAC applicants will receive an email informing them of their status on Friday, January 18.
RA applicants will receive an email informing them of their status on Tuesday, January 22.

AAC Individual Interviews – Tuesday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 23
RA Individual Interviews – Thursday, January 24 through Friday, February 8
Group Interviews – Sunday, February 10 and Monday, February 11 from 6:00-9:00pm

Last chance to sign up for the SCORR conference at Biola University held Feb. 8-10

SCORR is the Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation held at Bioloa University from Feb. 8 to 10.

During this enlightening conference,we will be able to dive in to honest discussion with other Christian College students, tackling the race issue, while also having some “unrelated” fun with them as well!

The cost is $350.

General auditions for spring theatre to be held January 12

Spring theatre general auditions for “As it is in Heaven” will be held Saturday, January 12 from noon-4:00pm in Wood-Mar Auditorium.

Bring a 90 second dramatic monologue to your audition. One can be provided at the audition if you don’t bring one with you.

Cast consists of 9 women

University Store offers price-matching program Jan. 7-11

This is a reminder about the price-matching program the University Store offers on textbooks during the first week of classes each semester. Take your printed information to the textbook annex in the basement of the library between Jan. 7-11. The guidelines:

  • The price-matching program runs during the first week of each semester only.
  • The online price must include shipping cost.
  • Book must be in stock and state they are available for shipment.
  • ISBN’s must match (we can only match a price on identical items).
  • Pricing can only be compared new to new and used to used. Used online prices cannot be compared with new bookstore prices.
  • We can only match pricing with online stores, not clubs like Books-a-Million or auction sites like eBay or half.com.
  • Only United States-based online stores

Update your parking permit

Welcome back, Students!

If your housing has changed from one side of the campus to another, or off-campus, you will need to change your parking permit.

Please scrape off your old permit with a single-edge razor blade and bring it to the Security office between 7am and 3pm M-F to exchange it for the correct permit for your new housing status.

Likewise, if you changed cars over break, bring in your previous permit in person. We will exchange it for a new one for your new vehicle and update your registration.

If you are bringing a car to campus for the first time, and were previously registered as NO CAR, please enter the pertinent data on the vehicle registration link on Bruindata.

A parking permit will be charged to your account and sent to you via campus mail. You will need to sign for it like a package at the main Post Office by the track once it has been issued.

Please don’t hesitate to call us at ext. 2090 between 7am and 3pm M-F if you have any questions.

Newberg hosts emergency response team training program

The city of Newberg is planning another Community Emergency Response Team training program. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in taking this series of training classes, beginning in February and ending in April, please plan on attending an introductory one-hour orientation/discussion at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Newberg Fire Department – Springbrook Station (3100 Middlebrook).

The meeting will introduce the CERT program, confirm that at least 10 students are interested, and decide on what days/evenings the 10-class sessions will be conducted. For more information, contact City of Newberg Emergency Manager Roger Gano at 503-554-7706.

Spiritual Formation Exemption Request for Undergraduate Students

Students who qualify for exemption from the ‘Spiritual Formation Program’ must apply for this exemption each semester.

The Spiritual Formation Exemption Form must be submitted to the Student Life Office within the first two weeks of the semester. Please submit all the documents required at one time.

Please refer to the Student Handbook for more information about the Spiritual Formation program.

UG Students – Meal Plan Selection

Undergraduate students have until Friday, January 18 to finalize any changes to meal plans.

This deadline coincides with the ‘add/drop’ deadline.

Students will not be allowed to make any changes to their meal plans after this day.

If you are a dependent student planning to marry in 2008 and have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree, please make an appointment with your Financial Aid Counselor before you file your FAFSA. She will help you determine when it is best for you to file.

Please be aware that you cannot change your dependency status due to getting married so it is important to take a few minutes in Student Financial Services to be able to make an informed decision.

Spring Confirmation

All undergraduate students are required to confirm enrollment before classes begin each semester. Returning students can confirm online via the My Data tab in Bruindata starting Jan.2, 2008, through 5 p.m., Jan. 6, 2008. Returning undergraduates who do not complete this process online must do so in person at the Stevens Center from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, January 6.New students will be required to confirm in person on January 6, 2008, as listed on the orientation schedule.Suggested times for in-person confirmation:

A-G: 2-3 p.m.

F-O: 3-4 p.m.

P-Z: 4-5 p.m.

Students who have not attempted to confirm by 5 p.m. on Jan. 6, will be charged a $50 late fee.

No parking permitted on library loading dock, service road

The University Store will be receiving large shipments of textbooks during the next three weeks. Please do not park in the library loading dock or along the service road (between the tennis courts and Edwards dorm), as trucks need the space to back into the dock. We are sometimes charged extra fees if trucks are not able to use the loading dock or are delayed by us having to find drivers to move their vehicles. Thanks for your help with this during our busy time.

Bruin Den releases holiday schedule

The Bruin Den will be open through Thursday, Dec. 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The grill will close at 1 p.m. each day.

The Bruin Den will close on Friday, Dec. 21, and will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 9:30 a.m. Both the Bruin Den and Villa Cafe will resume regular schedules on Jan. 7.
